I've been hearing rave reviews over 'Call of Duty'. Might want to give that one a look also.

Call of Duty was amazing...a little short, but definitely worth the money in my opinion.

How does Call of Duty compare to the Medal of Honor series?

Painkiller is of the "enter room, clear room of lots and lots of enemies, repeat". Similiar games would be the Serious Sam games.
I would say Far Cry is a very good FPS. If you got the computer for it, it looks great (birds, dragonflys, fish, crystal clear water). The AI is not stupid and will use cover or call for help. You can listen in on some funny conversations and kill people in varying ways, like if you're at the top of a hill and there's a barrel there, you can push the barrel off, and let it "bowl" an enemy below. You can also complete some levels without killing every enemy (or any enemy).
Call of Duty is also very good but short. The missions though are adrenaline packed.

loved every second of Call of Duty. Wish there were a few more of them. I'm picking up Far Cry this weekend, so I'll post some impressions after that. From what I've read, Painkiller's style doesn't appeal to me as much, but they've both received nice reviews.
As far as comparing Call Of Duty with MOH, well, I felt that COD immerses you more into the overall conflict. Rather than being a superspy behind enemy lines, you're just one faceless soldier of a group. Even though the team dynamic is somewhat illusionary, as you do most of the good stuff yourself, you still feel like you're a small part of a bigger conflict. Makes a difference.

I ended up buying painkiller. Graphics are awesome and the atmosphere is really interesting. However the gameplay definately is just blowing away anything that moves. Which isnt bad, but can get boring sometimes.
I didnt go with Call of Duty or any of those because I *HATE* WW2 games. The novelty wore off years ago and now software companies are just beating a dead horse. Unless its Wolfenstien, I want nothing to do with WW2 games.
Far Cry looks awesome as a good FPS. I kind of wish I had bought it instead of Painkiller, but its too late now. Ill probably just kill time with Painkiller until Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 come out.

I thought Doom 3 was coming out later this year?

Well, if they already have a alpha version running on the xbox, the PC release cant be too far off :)
I realize release dates slip, but I would be surpise if it slips out of 2004, let alone 3 more years.

Well, I'm hoping that whatever incredulous delays these games are going through - that it lives up and beyond the hype. From what I understand, with all these other new games that have been released - new 'engines' and 'technologies' that have been incorporated, a lot of developers are delaying their games to take those new concepts and have them implemented in their game. Akin to 'Fable', where new RPGs that were recently released, the game's evolved into something much more than what was originally intended.
In the end, however - whenever those games do come out, be it 2004 or 2006, I'm just hoping it lives up to expectations, and would be considered worthy purchases!
