I thought I had excel on my computer but it turns out I dont. I don't really want to go buy anything, but does anyone know of any good free spreadsheet utility?

Taco, didnt download the program u suggested b/c by the time i saw it the other was already downloaded,

besides the longest installation time i've seen in a long time-3 minutes for some reason on my fast computer open office works great, thanks again

For future reference, there is an Excel reader out there if all you need is to look at files. Search for the phrase "excel reader" on your favorite search engine and eventually you'll find it.
