As some of you may know, I've been unemployed since October, and went back to college to finish my degree.

As any college student knows, being in school = being broke 99% of the time.

Since I had no money, I never bought FOF2004. I have the old coupon because I have purchased the game before though, and thought today I'd go grab it, since I had the discount.

Unfortunately, the coupon expired, and based on email from solecismic they don't have any more to give out.

So I guess I just want some reasurance that:

A) the major problems from older games have been fixed
B) the game has more goodies worth having it for
C) its still the best football sim out there

any input will be greatly appreciated =)

I'll answer B) I think multiplayer is a blast (even with a few minor annoyances.) The drafting is better then ever, but still has room for improvement. I think it is harder then before to identify boom/busts. There are quite a few other improvements, but just these few make B a resounding yes for me.

b: for multiplayer alone.

Save your money on ramen noodles. You're a college kid, it's all you can afford.

well, while I do buy ramen to have aorund for quick lunches now and then, I have a wife who makes enough for us to live while I go to school. So its not like I'll starve if I spend the extra 5 bucks and get the game.

RendeR, do make sure to join an online league when you have the game, it's loads of fun. I think the CFL has one or two openings.

I might, Can you give me a rundown of how much time and effort is involved? like a step by step thing of how the online leagues work?

I'm in two leagues at the same time, and it's possible to use as little time as, say 10-15 minutes to prepare your export before you send it in. It doesn't have to be very time-consuming, it all depends on the level of detail you want to do with the league and the team. The best thing is that the immersion increases a great deal, you are much more aware of the good players on the other teams, and that happens more or less automatically, if you just pay attention to the goings on the league message board...
