tried a search and couldn't get results.....these are some things i have wondered about.
the questions:
1) what do the xxx's mean when you look at the draft order, that shows what team owns each pick in each round......like round 2 1st pick shows ATL, then round 2 2nd pick shows XXX. Why does it show this?
2) has anyone done a "study" on much a teams 1st and even 2nd and 3rd round picks match up by position to what is showed as thier 3 "highest needs?"

I believe the 'XXX' means that it's a lost pick - probably due to cap reasons, in the prior seasons.

There were discussions on not liking the fact that there were too many draft penalties every year. I would have to agree with that statement. Some years, you can move up 7 spots because of the penalties.

I think they're cap violations - or picks traded by the CPU to another? I know the first part applies. Never thought about the second part of my inquiry.
