What kind of educational background does Dr. Phil actually have? I have been searching all over the internet for atleast 20 minutes now and I have found '0' information regarding how he got to where he is now. Is he a psychologist? Psychiatrist? Blabbering idiot?

Anyone have an idea of a website where I can find this kind of information out?

Oh, and just to get things in the clear, I hate him just as much as anybody. I just need to get this information.

My understanding is that he is a clinical psychologist (they are the ones without the medical degrees.)

Culling together from a few sources...

Dr. Phil graduated from high school in Overland Park, Kansas, and got a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa. He dropped out after an injury ended his football career. After managing a health spa for a few years, he went back to school and ended up getting a PhD in psychology from the University of North Texas. (Psychiatrists are the medical doctors.) He ended up becoming a regular on the self-help seminar circuit, giving speaking engagements all over the Midwest, and ended up in Dallas working as a jury consultant. When Oprah was sued by the cattlemen, he ended up working her case, and managed to parlay that into a job appearing on her show as an expert on human behavior.

I don't show any record that he's ever been involved in "curing" patients in a whole "hour on the couch" type sense, though since he was reprimanded by the Texas State Board for getting a patient of his a job in his office, he probably did perform counseling at one time. Mostly, he's a motivational speaker with a knack for speaking in common sense terms.

Dirty filthy lie. Only half of them were eaten; the others were boiled down into a sort of slurry to be used as a facial scrub.
