In my first season of FBCB, I took over Rutgers. Got off to a decent start at 10-4, but then my best player was suspended for January due to academics. That led to a nice 6 game losing streak thru the Big East. Thankfully though I made a decent run at the end of the conference schedule to finish up 17-11, with a couple decent wins, earning a #8 seed in the Big East tournament.
However, anything short of a miracle in the Big East tourney would mean an NIT bid for me. First up was #9 seeded Villanova, who we beat in a low-scoring affair. Then we took on top-seeded Miami, #20 overall. In a miracle, we pulled out the victory for our biggest win of the season. Even if we lost to #24 Boston College, at 19-12 we should be right on the bubble.
But wouldn't you know it, little ol' Rutgers pulled off another shock with a 90-77 win. We are now standing at 20-11 after beating some ranked teams and feel very good about a possible bid to the Big Dance. We can even eliminate the uncertainty against #10 Syracuse by winning the BE Tourney.
Wonder what will happen? I'll keep you posted... ;)

We got off to a great start. With 11 minutes remaining in the Big East Championship, we were up 46-33.
Ugh.
We completely go in the crapper and lose 73-58. Yep, 40-12 over the last 11 minutes.

...But it doesn't matter. After our amazing run in the BE tourney, we are selected as a #10 seed in the East region (talk about making me sweat...3rd to last pairing announced) and will take on UCLA at 22-11.
And should we be lucky enough to pull off the upset...#2 seeded Syracuse might be waiting for us in the next round.

Didn't have a nice showing against UCLA. They beat us by 15 or so.
Oh, and 7th seeded UCLA would go on to defeat Duke in the National Championship game!

What do you mean announced? Is there some sort of tourney selection show? Just curious, still haven't bought the game.

Are conference tourney upsets too prevalent, especially in lower conferences? I've been the top seed in my tourney 3 times and I've lost in my first game each time. The last season I went undefeated in the conference and lost to the worst team in the conference. I know this has happened at least 2 other times, when my team was the worst team in the conference and I made it to the championships. I've gone through 11 seasons and it has happened 5 times.
Is anyone else seeing this?
How do you get to the Tournament Selection Show? I've never noticed that before.

Now granted I moved up to Duke...but in the 11 seasons I've been their coach I've won the ACC tournament 9 times. And even in the 2 season I didn't win I still made it past for the first round. So I haven't noticed too many upsets.
