Ending in about two hours, and he's only at $121,000. I'm sure he'll get bid up a bit, but I've had absolutely NO action on him the first few times I tried to sell him at what I saw as a little over market value ($400k). Please, bid if you need a cheap forward upgrade for a few matches.
EDIT - I'm going to delete this thread after work, when the auction is over. Just thought I'd throw this out there since he ends so soon, and is still so cheap.

i was going to bid, but then i noticed he is controversial. i cant afford to risk a TS hit. sorry :(
remember most bids happen in the last 5 minutes anyway on players. im sure his value will equal out.

Yep its beginning to turn into a buyers market. You usually see this from weeks 9-13. For excellents and below the effect probably starts at week 7 or 8. All the interested parties have completed their cup runs and have already spent their money.

Ill have a few formidable defenders ready for sale in week 11-12. how big of a hit do you think i will take on them compared to if i wait until the begining of next season?

It really depends on how many stars they can put up. If you have formidables that are putting up 4 stars, you shouldn't see much deflation in their market value. If they can only put up 3 stars, be prepared for a really bad price. Three and a half stars will probably see about 10% deflation during this period.
The hard part about waiting til next season is that you either need to continue training them, and will lose that training value because will not affect their transfer price. Or, you need to 'incubate' them by playing them in off positions until you want to sell, so their form doesn't fall.
I would recommend the following actions:
1. If they are young enough and you have a descent coach. Keep training them and try to sell them at outstanding, hopefully in the first half of next season.
2. If they are not young and won't pop again until late next season, sell them now and get the money. You may end up getting a fair price anyhow.
3. Don't incubate players unless you absolutely have to. Keeping dead money on your team is never a good idea.

Chiru sold cheap because he is old and in bad form. His last match of 2.5 stars wasn't a good selling point either. He would have sold for more in better form, but being 28, really dropped his value.

They are currently 18 and with 2-3 weeks left to formidable, and they are both putting up 3.5 stars. I really need the money for a solid coach and a new formidable midfielder. I might consider only selling 1 and keeping the other till early next season to sell at outstanding, and hold off on buying the midfielder. Although 10% hit doesnt sound too bad considering I should get a 10% savings on the midfielder. So with that logic it should even out :)

BTW Saintjo, just saw you sold Joan at a really nice price (more than what I paid for my new trainee yesterday)

Yeah, I got like 328k for him. Not bad :) He is the 3rd solid skilled player I have pulled this year and my YS is only at solid. The other two were a 20 year old solid goalie and a 18 year old solid passing player.

Just an opinion but, if they're that young (18), I'd consider keeping them longer and getting them up to levels where you get the big cash. Of course, if you're in desperate need for money, then all bets are off.

I agree with Daed about your young guys.
I'm going to leave the thread up, some good discussion in here.

I agree as well, but I need the money. I really, really need to upgrade to a solid coach before I do anything else. And I'm shooting to promote to div 4 next season and I definately need at least 1 formidable midfielder to compete. I have plenty of other defenders that will be 18/19 and formidable/outstanding next season.
Out of curiostiy, what are levels "levels where you get the big cash"? And what do you consider big cash?
Vince

Outstanding+ seem to be the good levels, though Formidable isn't bad either. Basically, cutting out at Excellent doesn't show as much of a profit. And big cash is about a million apiece.

Crap! If I hadn't been in class, I would have picked him up. Boy, it would have been awful to have an excellent scorer with weak experience... AS A FREAKING BACKUP! Sorry, Vince :(

I'd definitly sell one to cover the costs of hiring a solid coach. If you have a bunch of guys in the same range with better secondaries, go ahead and sell them both.
Just some thoughts.

If I'd seen this thread, I might have jumped in, my attack could always use a boost. On the other hand, it means I still may get enough in the bank after the league match to get an outstanding middie...
Vince

Well, it turns out ok. I ended up picking up an Outstanding scorer this morning for about 1.8 million. His secondaries aren't all that, but just about all Outstandings that I've pegged go in the 2 to 2.5 range, even with only Inadequate passing.
