I forget what qualities a team leader must have.
Here are my candidates on my team right now:
Van Watt (5586933)
28 years, solid form, healthy
A popular guy who is calm and infamous.
Has poor experience and passable leadership abilities.
Charlie Huddleston (7413075)
29 years, passable form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is calm and upright.
Has passable experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Fabian van Bommel (12266268)
22 years, excellent form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is calm and upright.
Has poor experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Teodor Pleavă (2984122)
32 years, passable form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is calm and dishonest.
Has solid experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Erik Eggleston (7413086)
28 years, inadequate form, healthy
A sympathetic guy who is balanced and honest.
Has inadequate experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Darren Stirton (3725577)
32 years, weak form, injured (4 weeks)
A controversial person who is tranquil and honest.
Has passable experience and solid leadership abilities.
Purely guessing, I'd say Stirton. But he's essentially dead.
So, I might go with Pleavă instead.

Team leader is the one with the best leadership ability, so it would be Stirton (controversial not good for TS, you should sell him).
But I guess you meant Captain, and there I would say Pleavă

Yes, Pleava is my captain for league, Huddleston for friendlies.
Would Van Watt be a good choice for TS purposes?
Stirton is a possible candidate for coach, but his controversial attribute is wary.

Pleava will probably be my next coach, he'll be available for consideration around the middle to end of next season.
Stirton will go on the market.

you don't care about him being infamous that will only influence is play, not is attitude, if you don't have any other player with passable leadership then, yes, he would be a good team leader.

Stirton: on the market when healthy, or fired immediately?

I'd try to sell him now at a low price (let's say asking price 0) since is just a B teamer

Stirton is now on the market at zero starting price.
Maybe some newbie will buy him.

I'd have tried to keep him and get his exp to hit solid since once it does, he'll be a much better coach (for TS) with solid LS compared to Pleave who has inad LS. I'd try to eat the negative TS aspect of an anti-psuedo-clown till he pops.
Every time I read the title of this thread, I think this is a line out of some Greek play.

Well Stirton already has a bid on him,
right now it's at $7,000 US.
He is also a body I must get rid of, since I've added a few players.

I have other candidates for the coach job, so this wouldn't be a problem. :)
