has anyone had much luck with the unpredictable speciality? i have 1 player and hasnt had an event happen yet. hottrick.org says that it relies on the players passing ability. but what is a sufficient passing skill to get this event to fire more often?

Jerome is unpredictable. I've seen 'events' from this with weak passing as well.

Something to the extent of 'seemingly out of nowhere, Jerome came in and...'

I have in all honesty never seen a 'bad' unpredictable event, but I must admit Jerome does sometimes disappear from the stat sheet for games at a time.

well the main reason i ask is that im looking at getting another unpredictable player with inad passing and i was curious if that would be enough.

I usually don't try and take unpredictable anythings unless they're forwards. I'd hate to finally see a bad event with a defender. :)

yeah, im not a big fan of them either. this guy wouldnt be in a position to give up any goals.

I have a friend who had an unpredictable goalie on his team. I always thought it took cojones, but he said he never had a special event occur with him.
Still, I would think twice about starting such a player...

Is it just me, or does this not make sense at all ? what does the fact that the defender is a head specialist has got to do with anything ? Never understood that one really.

I think they just threw it in there because they needed a 'con' for the head specialists...

i agree, it kinda makes sense, but not a ton. but there has to be something bad for head players. im just glad they went with technical instead of quick. you dont see as many technical winger, forwards and therefore less chance of this ever happening to my head defenders :)

This always made more sense to me if it was basketball - basically the head specialists are aerial; and the technical guys know how to use a pump fake. :-D

Love unpredictable forwards, hate unpredictable defenders. If you can get an unpredictable forward, I'd give a little premium value for him. If it's a middie or defender, that's a problem because it can lead to goals. The only down side is that every once in a while your unpredictable player will have a real stinker of a game where he gets a star less than normal, iirc.

unpredicatble defenders are not as bad as people tend to believe.

The "bad" unpredicatble events are tied to the players defense. So a unpredictable defender with formdiable defending is RARELY gonna have a bad unpredictable event. Then of course the other teams offense has to score on the event also. it doesn't give them a goal, it gives them a chance for a goal.

When i started HT my 2 wingbacks were both solid defending and unpredictable. In the 1 1/2 seasons they played for me i never once gave up a Unpredictable event goal from either of them.

Now..... a middy with the unprdicatble skill and bad defending can be a problem. I have 2 of them and its cost me 2 goals over the last 2 seasons. Luckly they were both in friendlys i think.

I think they just threw it in there because they needed a 'con' for the head specialists...I think the "game logic" for it is that a head specialist is taller, slower, and/or less agile.

Head specialists allready have a con, they play very slightly under their statistical power. Not sure how much, doubt HT-Devs will ever say. Anyways, About Unpredictable: I have two players, and their both midfielders....

What can I say? I don't see this guy acting much on his unpredictability, maybe he has scored once or twice on it (never got a bad event)... but he doesn't do much that is unpredictable.

Jesus really uses his unpredictability (and so far... nothing bad!). I remember winning the first game he played because of an unpredictable event. I think it was a league match too, because I wanted to continue my cup run :). But anyways, He's done it often, maybe half his games so far... and nothing bad.

I like unpredictability! I just wish I could get it in a foward....

well the one player i have is an unpredictable excellent scoring/poor passing forward that has yet to have an event. he will probably be on the transfer wire early next season when i can replace him with a formidable scoring head forward.

thanks for all the input ;) but i ended up getting a second quick winger instead of an unpredictable one.

Like sterling said, HEART unpredictable forwards. My perfect forwards tandem would be unpredictable and header specialist. The only other spot I'm really comfortable having an unpredictable player at is on the wing.

I agree with Mr. W. I think the game interpret header specialists as being big and tall players so someone with good technical skills might have an advantage on them in a one-on-one situation.

My stud midfielder, Casey Nava (just sold for $1.8M...miss him already) was Unpredictable. He had Wretched defense. He used to ALWAYS give up goals (scoring opportunities, I guess), and it ALWAYS happened in games that I lost by one goal. That was in the first few months I had him. Then he didn't give up an unpredictable event goal for a long time...but the first game he played in for his new team, he did it again...and the team he played for lost by one goal. Coincidence? More than likely...
