Why change?
Did the team really work to win the game?
Give the team something, but not full credit.
Change won't happen, just an idea that came across. ;)

its fine the way it is......
How is the point system in Europe? I know the MLS is the same at HT. I like things as realistic as possible.

Does the team diserve to be penalized because someone else failed to fill a team or quick (cup seedings, promotion standings, etc)

team earns a 3-0 win (so same number of points as a normal win)

This would cause all sorts of trouble. "I'm up by 3 points, the win at my place on opening day, and I'm playing the other team the last week of the season at his place. I'll just 'forget' to set my lineup and I take first"

I don't see how you should be penalized for something that is completely out of your control. I'd prefer to see modification to the team replacement system.

I wouldn't mind them adjusting the 5-0 portion of things as far as the scoring goes. One of the teams in my series got 2 walkovers and a 10-0 GD over a team that had given up just 5 goals in their first 6 games (he apparently has abandoned after that one). There's no way they'd have scored 10 against that squad, and it penalizes everyone else in the division who will only get one walkover, or possibly none in my case since he might get replaced before hand. 2-0 or 3-0 I could see, but 5-0 is pretty excessive.

If it changes, it messes up the whole promotion formula. It isn't fair to penalize teams a possible auto-promotion because they walked over a team they would have beat anyway, among other reasons.
