I normally play a 3-5-2 as I train middies but in my next to last match of the season I play the #1 team in the conference who runs a 5-3-2 CA. Even running a 3-5-2 I still won't match his MF rating so I'm considering running the same 5-3-2 CA that he normall runs. My question is, if I play 1 of my CD at IM and both my wingers at CD I'll still get my 3 IM's PM training as usual right? A point in this match would do wonders for my fight for 4th. I'm the only team to take a point from them (tied earlier in the season at home) and I play the 4th and 5th place teams at home as 2 of my last 3 matches (I'm 1 point out of 4th right now)

To answer you question about 1 cd being "extra inner midfielder" and the 2 wingers being "extra center defenders", yes this is a valid formation. I run it every friendly :)

Now whether this formations is good for trying to win in your case, I dont know. I dont think I have ever won with this formation :) i dont care about friendly outcomes

I'm more concerned with still getting the 3 IM's their PM training for the week when I don't play them in the friendly. I'm certain that I will lose playing my normal 3-5-2 which is why I'm looking at other options.

Yeah, all 3 inner mids will get PM training.

FYI, if he wins the midfield, his CA is useless. So you dont have to worry about that part. You might want to consider still running a 3-5-2 then so your midfield is closer, but he will not get any CA opportunies from you. And your wingers will still get 50% training.
If you are looking for a 0-0 tie by running a 5-3-2. You might want to consider pressing as well. And if you have a descent leadership coach, throw a PIC in there if you are already loosing the midfield by that much.

Well his last home game he got a poor MF and my last away game I got a poor MF so hopefully he CAs me since my MF will go down going from a 3-5-2 to a 5-3-2 and I plan on PICing the match. I don't have enough stamina to press which is why I'm going with the CA. I'll be stamina training a couple of weeks at the end of this season so hopefully I can try that next season (I took over at the beginning of this season)

THAT SUCKS the "italian" formation its the worst just for catenaccio teams work, id preffer the 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3 remenber that the ofensive team almost allwais wins
