affects of formation inexperience

what are the true affects of formation inexperience? i know confusion shows on the match report, but what does that really mean? your midfield ratings go down, you loose a few scoring chances, there is some kind of confusion event where you can give up a goal?

I'd say a little bit of everything probably, confusion events mainly

Although some have said that it only drops your midfield rating, I've also heard that the Confusion event will drop your ratings all around. Either way, they give you a better chance than not of giving up goals but I can't recall a specific "giving up goal because of confusion" event.
