So I finally bit the bullet and bought OOTP6, and I'm floored that a game this complex game comes with no help file or game manual of any type. Can those familiar with the game tell me how similar OOTP5 and OOTP6 are, and thus how useful the OOTP5 manual would be?
My first issue is figuring out how to set up my leagues. I want to sim from 1900-2000 so I have a full fictional history and then I'll take over my team in 2001. I want to follow MLB history in terms of number of teams, the league divisions and expansion. I also would prefer to follow MLB historical statistical trends for the appropriate eras.
I'm also curious about how finances work. Is there any consideration in a team's finances with using real population data to help determine a franchises financial potential as FOF does? If I sim a century of baseball following MLB history would the New York teams still have a financial advantage due to population base? Is expansion as simple as just saying what cities I wish to expand to, or are there options based on population and/or other factors? Do franchise shifts occur, and is there something similar from a financial perspective governing these moves?
