IV.41 is now offically.... hell (how tough is your divison next season??)

Oh sure we had a tough divison this season. This past week if you don't count the bot game we averaged a 89.3 NSI. Our season average was around 86 each week. Pretty tough..... but somehow its gonna get worse. Let me show you :)


1 - Kingfishers (70661) - When they actually play there starters in league games they get anywhere from 87 - 109 NSI's. They should average around 100 NSI next season easy.


2 - pegasus (70403) - GREAT midfield and good offense and defense. They should average between 95-100 NSI next season easy.


3 - Carebears (71356) - VERY good young midfielders and a strong defense that i still haven't seen play at its best. Should average between 85-95 NSI next season easy.

4 - Havoc (71573) - Bad Form has and injuries killed Havoc this season. But next season he should average around the same NSI as the Carebears. 85-95.

5 - Maniacal Misfitz (72203) - My team is all-around pretty solid and my midfield is always getting better. I averaged around 83-84 NSI this season. Next season it should be around 89 - 90.

6 - The Family Jewels (71848) - Was kind of a joke this year until this week. A 5-4-1 team that finally went out and spent 3.2 million on an old but experianced group of midfielders. Got a 93 NSI today (divine defense) and i think they'll average between 83 - 88 NSI next season, Maybe higher....

7 - GG United (70658) - ahhhh the new guys. Well they'll fit right in!! An extremely balanced 3-4-3 team. They averaged around 80 NSI last season and im pretty sure i haven't seen the best they can do. They almost seemd to be toying with they're divison last season. I'd say they will average at least mid-80's NSI next season. But it wouldn't surprise me if its higher.


8 - Drillers (71437) - And yet another very tough divison V team joining us. Another very balanced 3-4-3 team. They averaged around 80 NSI this season and im sure that will increase quite a bit next season. Probally mid-80's at least.


So from the looks of it now ( i know its a little early) but my divison could very easily average 90 NSI or better each week. Its gonna be freaking brutal.....

I'll post this assuming I stay put, which is where I think the odds lie (although my qualifier is not unwinnable).

The listing here is by order of finish, and assumes that both teams playing in qualifiers will win them.


Brays Bayou FC (me) - although I'm a keeper trainer, I've been sinking the profits into my midfield, and I take advantage of the defense boost to play an offensive CD (and sometimes offensive wingbacks as well). My team is pretty well-balanced, although I'm not looking for an immediate upgrade if I stay down.
Flashotcite - Another keeper trainer, only one with a much better keeper. Daytrades as soon as they're out of the series. Plays the 3-5-2 straight-up, without the offensive CD that the defensive ratings could afford. In addition to spending more money than me on the midfield, they've also put some serious scratch into a striker. The best team in the series and odds-on favorite to win it if they can ever go through a season without suffering an upset along the way.
ole - A midfield trainer, and therefore likely to be a force to be reckoned-with by the end of next season. Currently a shade behind me, but I'm likely to have to drop some cash on a middie if I want to keep things that way.
vick tyme's - Not a serious threat. Spent $1.5 MM on an 18-yo center defender but doesn't appear to be training him; in fact, doesn't appear to train anything.
New Bremen Chickens - Defense-trainer who pulls high-50's but isn't yet up to more than the occasional upset. Really the fourth-best team in the series.
Grand Rapids - Seems moderately competent. Not sure what they train, both matches against them were easy victories.
bot - If it's a knowledgeable player, they'll get off to a decent start and edge Grand Rapids and/or vick tyme's for a qualifier. If it's not a knowledgeable player, the beat is on.
bot - See previous.
Edit: Conclusion: It's a tough series to win, and a tough one to autopromote out of, but it's an easy one for a good team to be successful.

89 NSI both times. About 15 points shy of what I need to compete.

1) Dr united - Division II demotee who is replacing Onion Patch. United averaged 113 in Div. II and was promptly booted. Has had an NSI as high as 130.

2) The Wolfpack - Yes, I'm also playing with one of the Shook brothers. The Wolfpack just pulled off a freakin Utopian midfield, my brilliant - magnificent will have fun against that. Other than the most awesome midfield I've ever played against, the Pack doesn't have anything else really special. They averaged a 103 NSI this season and hit a high of 118. However, they only long in ever month or so and currently haven't logged in since 4/27, so maybe we'll get rid of him.

3) Elsa's Itch - I'm not sure what Elsa's Itch is exactly, but it makes for a pretty good HT team. They have a really well-rounded team that gets a brilliant midfield and a divine central attack. Averaged a 105 NSI with a 110 high.

4) Agawam Ambush - Agawam plays a 4-5-1 and gets a mythical-utopian -magical defense. However that one forward happens to be team USA's divine forward, Rex Brown, valued at over $40 million. Agawam averaged a 109 NSI and topped out at 115 this season.

5) Terps - A team more on my level who will put up a 80-90 NSI. Beatable. Averaged an 83 NSI this season with a high of 91, which is just two better than my season high.

6) Waterloo FC - Yes, that team. The Div. IV team that made it to the Elite 8 in the US Open Cup. YoSoySean and Doug are more than happy to see his departure I'm sure. We'll just say they average 100 because they played subs in league play during their Cup run. Had a high of 124 NSI!

7) Racer X - Averaged a 89 NSI so they are beatable, but the magical-formidable-supernatural attack they have scares me. Had a high NSI of 98.


So really, the only teams I have a shot at beating are Terps and Racer X. Anything else will be lucky, but I'm going to give it my all and hope to stick around.

IV.1, assuming the current teams win their qualifiers.

Mountaineer Soccer Club - Looks pretty tough. 5-3-2 team, puts up good offense and defense with CA, occassionally an outstanding midfield with no CA (and only 2 IMs, no WTM) 80-90 NSI (+ CA)

San Marcos Texans low to mid 80s NSI, balanced with a slightly stronger offense.

Streakers I average 100+ NSI when I field starters. But my team is in complete and total chaos, I only have 8 "real" starters atm. Hopefully I can get it straightened out quickly. Starting to use CA.

Ann Arbor B-52's Averages 100-110 NSI or so. Offensive nightmare, also with great defense. Midfield is good but beatable.

Condor FC Averages ~70 NSI, balanced team.

Quercus Velutina Brotherhood 75-80ish. Scoring trainer, slightly offense heavy.

Becky's Babes!!! high 70s/low 80s. Plus there's always that SP threat.

Smash Brothers mid 80's, up to magnificient midfield in the games I scouted briefly.

Alexander Koenig, a winger.

I don't like that guy :( He was his star player so he got him free. He makes setting up my defense difficult, otherwise I would just stack the middle against 3-4-3 instead of having to guess which wing to protect. And he's a semi-clown (symp/solid) AND has World Class experience, so he's a future excellent coach more than likely.

Meanwhile my star player was an excellent scorer, who I traded for a solid and 300K. pffftt

IV.23 (I thought this year was tough) in order of finish

Minnesota Vikings: In line to auto-promote until a shocking loss Week 13 to the #8 team where he won NSI by 20+. Now will be facing a team with about 120-130 NSI. Minnesota can top 100, but unless his opponent throws it he's coming back next year.
ECW: I think he's a better team than Minnesota, but as long as he keeps using new trainees at Winger he'll be a little behind. 3 IM's put up 5.5+* each and are still being trained.
Russian Alcoholics: Around 80's NSI.
Real Hollywood: Mid 80's NSI. Recently bought 2 4* forwards.
Pulaski Warriors: High 80's to low 90's NSI, if he stuck to a 3-5-2 he'd be up near the top, but as a defense trainer, he throws in some 4-4-2 and even a 5-4-1.
Concord Assassins: My team, usually low to mid 80's NSI. +10 GD, 2nd in the league and finished 4 pts out of 2nd. Will be switching to Winger training, which will hurt my midfield at least short term because I run old guys TM right now. Playing a qualifier against a 3-4-3 team with 75-80 NSI. Could lose, and would be better off in the long run, but I refuse to throw a match.
Rabid Wombats: Replacing a team that had 100+ NSI using a 5-4-1 is a team that just had a 97 NSI using a 3-5-2.
Tarentum Witches: A 3-4-3 team who ran 3-5-2 in Cup play. Regularly threw up low 70's, but had 1 88 NSI game that makes me think he was toying with the league.

v.56 is still the toughest or 2nd toughest series 5 U.S. via hatstats. I believe that Riddle will promote to a weak series 4 team. But the division has at least 3 teams that could play solidly at 4.

It's not gonna get any easier, either, Big Flats Premier is just as good as Nationals.

(IV demotee) 1. Houston Cabelleros. They, uh won the series in season 21 and upset TuS Pewsum. Pewsum now replaces them in IV.42. Odds of that, well, I'll leave that to someone with math skills. (1 in 65,536?)They suffered from owner neglect, due to lack of internet at times, from what the owner told me early this season, and had 3 walkovers, and the owner hasn't logged in since mid-May. All this means is that the team, if the owner comes back, is as good as when they left, and no more. And this series is tougher then it was then. 60-70 NSI.

2. Dovienya- (Me.) I'll be picking up a formidable goalie in the offseason, and going to 40,000 seats. I should be hitting 75-85 NSI, slightly tilted toward the offense.

3. Black Rock City Burners- They switched from defense to winger training after they got an uber-pull that they trained up a level and sold for $2.4 million, much of which they still have. Problem- They run a 3-4-3 and train winger, which means 2 midfielders. Mid 60's NSI currently.

4. Ball Marks- Has bought *1* player in 5 months. Seems to be training midfield, if with his original crappy players, because he bumps a midfield level every 10 weeks of so. He hits passable on a regular basis. Low 60's NSI.

5. Badlands United- Another team who's played forever, not trained anything, but slowly upgrading his team just through ticket sales. Go figure. I'd help these guys, but frankly, they could almost be a threat then. Low 60's NSI.

6. Shmoka's/GoldenmonkeysI- The winner of this game really doesn't matter. Shmoka's doesn't log in, and GoldenmonkeysI just went through a bot league with a wretched midfield.

7. Pinhead Nation- Posts over with me on USCHO. He should be good for 6th at minimum, and could possibly sneak as high as 4th by the end of the season. Thus is the advantage of having a clue in this series. High 40's, Low 50's NSI.

8. Brinkmann Futbol Club- This Argentine Spanish speaking team,(What the hell?) is already hitting mid 50's, and plays friendlies. This should keep him out of a relegation spot, if he's training anything. That's hard to tell, since he has *1* teenager in the starting lineup.

<b>1. Averill Park Mercury</b> - (me) Balanced team with midfield issues. Won't be upgrading much in the offseason, so it's unlikely we'll get much better - I'd hope we'll average a 76-77 NSI, but that might be optimistic.
<b>2. Trogdors Gremio FC</b> - Midfield-heavy team; I think they might upgrade in the offseason too. Should average similar NSI to me; series will probably come down to who wins head-to-head.
<b>3. Southern Kestrels</b> - No training program (apparantly); they've been passed by four teams (one of who came and went from the series). Just goes to show how critical it is to have even a modest training program. Average NSI probably right around 70.
<b>4. Da' Monkeys</b> - A lot like AP Mercury (me), with a little less midfield, and slightly worse attacks. Defense is similar. Should improve this season to give AP and TGFC a run.
<b>5. The Great Vikings</b> - No training, semi-active owner. Average high 50's/low 60's NSI, but always seems to find a way to win weird games.
<b>6. LA Lazers</b> - Defense-heavy team, I think they train defenders. If they keep their training program together, might get somewhere in 2-3 seasons. Mid 60's NSI.
<b>7. Frostbite FC</b> - Very strong D6 team - much like TGFC last season, has very good midfield. Very disconcerning for future seasons, should I not get out of V.177 this year.

I assume a PM trainer, either way looks pretty dangerous. All of his players get lots of stars.

2. Fratboys
Joined <st1:date year="2002" day="5" month="5">5/5/02</st1:date>. Season 22 AVG: 83.5 NSI, 41.3*
Last season's III demotee (FOFC's Masked beat him out). Also a PM trainer. I have a feeling most of the teams here will be.

3. CC's Dragons

Woohoo, the first team it looks like I can hang with. According to Masked, he too is a PM trainer.

4. Los Chixi Dix

Another team I can probably hold my own with with, seems to be a playmaking trainer.

5. Thunderchickens

Seems surprising that they finished season 22 in 5th place, must have had a string of bad luck. Masked seems to think he's a forward trainer, so I'll smile and nod with that. This means his midfield might suck, which would be an uber advantage to me, because frankly mine's not that great either.

6. Dragonball F
Joined <st1:date year="2003" day="15" month="7">7/15/03</st1:date>. Season 22 AVG: 70.7, 34.8*
Has to play VfB Schleswig 1886 from V.78. This team has AVG 67.6 NSI, 35*. The match between these two could be very interesting. I think VfB is a scoring trainer, but he's relatively new (started in 3/04). I think I have a good shot of taking whichever team wins the qualifier.

7. Real Terps FC
ME! Joined <st1:date year="2003" day="18" month="2">2/18/03</st1:date>. Season 22 AVG: 72.8 NSI, 34.1*
Obviously, I'm a GK trainer, and I'm hoping the guy I bought last week increases in form so he can put his skillz to use. My NSI and average stars have been going up as the season progresses, hopefully that will keep me competitive.

Pretty good even series, I don't see any certain wins or losses in it. Definitely seems to be of the opinion midfield > all though. Definitely will get to try some interesting tactics with this series :)

Harrisburg Hammers: 3-4-3 & 3-5-2, high 80's. good attack, decent midfield medicore defense. Winger trainer
Bull Dogs: very Good mid (up to titanic), mid to low 80's, 3-5-2 w/2 WTM. mediocre center attack, crap wing attack, medicore defense. PM trainer
Dillos: Good mid (WC), large variation in ratings est. mid-80's, 3-5-2 w/1 WTM. Good defense, average attack. PM trainer
AC Pittsburgh: daytrader, 3-5-2, had a 90 avg in the first half of the season, dropped to below 70 2nd half. Won't bother scouting more until I play him, currently owns 46 players.
the sideshow: capable of a good mid, though inconsistant, 3-5-2 w/2 WTM, ratings around upper 80's. Quality defense (outs) and center attack, not much wing. keeper trainer
Of Mexican Descent: mediocore midfield (excellent) 3-5-2 no WTM!, ratings about 80. Very good defense but not much else. keeper trainer

Radio Flyers: pretty good midfield, 3-5-2 no WTM, ratings very with lower 80's being common. decent defense, good even attack. PM trainer
LA Lovers: Capable of a good midfield, 3-4-3 w/1 WTM, about 70. Not much else. rarely plays friendlies.

Quallifier opponents:
Cowabunga(D.III):Got a message from Harrisburg saying Cowabunga was going to kick his ass, I'll believe him for now.
The Metrosexuals(D.V): Don't see them winning.
Pyros(D.V): best chance to win, playing Mexican decent, I hope he loses, can't respect a man with an outwar referal link as his team homepage. Pretty decent team otherwise.

:DWell, I forgot to mention that cthomer is the one playing Pulaski in the qualifier. Unless he gets lucky in the game, he will lose. Cthomer puts up Poor/Weak/Weak attacks out of the 4-5-1 and if he brings that to IV.23 next year he'd be lucky to score 8-10 goals all year.

I really hope to win my qualifier now. The two autopromotees into IV.34 are 65-70 NSI squads that I'd be able to beat, pretty much giving me a relatively easy shot at finishing 5th/6th, which is all I could ask for. If I ever get a good coach, I would be able to compete in my second season in that series. Having said that, I expect to lose on an event goal and face my 5th season from hell in V.152.
