From 'Tyco News magazine' ...

"If you tell the media that your product uses a fluorinated ketone to suppress combustion, most likely it's not going to make the headlines. But if you tell the media that you're putting out fires with a substance that looks like water but doesn't cause damage to electronics, artwork, books, and any other expensive assets, you'll create a frenzy."

Hold the front page! You heard it here first! The BBC, CNN, Al Jezeera and Fox News have all been alerted! Prepare for the inevitable liberal/conservative media bias discussions! FOFC will be set alight with controversy!

Morons. Working for a living stinks.

Does it make me a moron if I agree with Tyco News Magazine?

Oh, crap. Are you my boss?

No, I'm not even my own boss! :)

I guess what I'm taking from the article is that if you present a subject from a technical point of view, most people won't catch on. When you present the pratical application of a subject, people understand and can get excited. It's seems like common sense to me, but I sure didn't know what fluorinated ketone did.

Maybe I'm missing your point.

Sorry, I was just being self-indulgent and letting off steam. It just exasperates me when these company magazines pretend that their own employess give a toss about the products.

Still, somebody has to write them.

No need to apologize! Venting is good. It makes for interesting threads! :)

Your point is an interesting one...do employees care about the products that they help create? I think I do, at least as far as customer satisfaction goes, but I do have to question some of the business decisions that are made around here...

At good companies they care.

I thought all the bosses at Tyco were doing time in federal prison right now...

I thought the moral of the story is that if you spin a story properly, you can get anyone to get excited about things.

I think that having toys that can put out fires, whether it damages electronics or not, is pretty cool.
