How Can An Editor Let This In?

I think we've had threads about this before, but how in the heck can this happen in a national publication:

"That Floston Paradise atmosphere thingie Dog and I surfed through at February'sAll-Star Game? Factor it upward by four. It's still golden in L.A."

I mean, I understand it's ESPN Page 2 so it's not really good journalism or credible, but still. I mean this is supposed to be professional, right?

SI, this Ralph Wiley. I don't think any editor in the world could make me understand anything he writes. I am baffled and confused at all times when I read his stuff (which is like twice a year). He talks about weird people and adopts odd personas. The one thing the editor missed was the space between "February's" and "All-Star", that's it. Other than that, it's just typical Wiley. I don't think his columns really count as professional journalism, they are more stylistic essays (or so I think).
