In the spirit of the recent names puzzles, I offer up these ten gentlemen from the Civil War. Some are easy enough, others I hope are very challenging. There is no second layer to the puzzle, just see if you can get all ten names.
Hates Rally's burgers, bar none. (General Henry Heth)
Lost his pillow unconditionally. (General Simon Bolivar Buckner)
Ye will get ye this burger third, Johnny. (General John Reynolds)
Played bridge but acquired a fear of heights. (General Ambrose Burnside)
Even the cigars couldn’t save him. (General George McClellan)
Merry Christmas, Abe. (General William Tecumseh Sherman)
Chance didn’t favor him. (General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson)
Chick loves Rocky (General George Thomas)
Mobility issues, damn it. (Admiral David Farragut)
11th Commandment: Thou shalt not get lost. (General Lew Wallace)
Can you do porn stars next time so some of us non-historians might have a chance?

Was there a general named Clinton?
MrBug708

Lee is the second one?
MrBug708

Is the Bridge one in reference to a Bridge, Cards, or a Bridgider General?
Lost his pillow unconditionally.
Maj Lionel Booth commander of Fort Pillow.
Or Gen Nathan Bedford Forrest unable to hold Fort Pillow Forrest retreated returning it to Union control.
11th Commandment: Thou shalt not get lost.
J.E.B. Stuart? Just a guess but his infamous ride prior to Gettysberg might be construed as 'getting lost'.
Played bridge but acquired a fear of heights.
Gen Burnside commander Army of Potomac at Fredricksburg. Crossing the river he handed the Union army its worst defeat on the war while attacking the heights beyond the town.
Mobility issues, damn it.
Gen George B. McClellan - He had the 'slows'.
Chance didn’t favor him.
Gen. Joseph Hooker lost the battle of Chancellorvilles.

J.E.B. Stuart? Just a guess but his infamous ride prior to Gettysberg might be construed as 'getting lost'.
Nope, it's not ol' Jeb.
Played bridge but acquired a fear of heights.
Gen Burnside commander Army of Potomac at Fredricksburg. Crossing the river he handed the Union army its worst defeat on the war while attacking the heights beyond the town.
Excellent! The bridge reference is from Antietam, and the heights refers to Marye's Heights at Fredericksburg.
Mobility issues, damn it.
Gen George B. McClellan - He had the 'slows'.
Chance didn’t favor him.
Gen. Joseph Hooker lost the battle of Chancellorvilles.
Nope, but on the right track on the second one.

Hate's Rall'y Burgers, bar none
Gen Heth ... Confederate opposite to Gen Buford at Gettysburg. Though the bar none is driving me nuts. :)
Chance didn’t favor him.
I still say Hooker :) ... How about Stonewall Jackson died of wounds suffered during the Chancellorsville campaign. <---- Nuts should have posted faster!

Of the remainder, you've made headway on two:
Hates Rally's burgers, bar none.
Lost his pillow unconditionally.
This one I thought would be pretty easy:
Even the cigars couldn’t save him.
Two are moderately tricky:
Ye will get ye this burger third, Johnny.
Mobility issues, damn it.
This one is the toughest of the bunch:
11th Commandment: Thou shalt not get lost.

Bueno! Bar none = a play on words with "Heth Bar"
Lost his pillow unconditionally
I assume the 'unconditionally' refers to U.S. Grant. His famous note to General Simon Bolivar Buckner earned the nickname Unconditional Surrender Grant. So how about Gen Buckner. Buckner commanded Fort Donelson Tenn. so I do not understand the pillow reference.

You're en fuego!
Confederate General Pillow bailed out just prior to the surrender (as did General Floyd), which put Buckner in charge. The rest you nailed.

The last two:
Ye will get ye this burger third, Johnny.
11th Commandment: Thou shalt not get lost.
Gen Lew Wallace commanded 3rd Division under Grant. He was order to move his division but claims he did not recieve the order or there was a foul with the order delaying his arrival.

General Hill at Petersburg?

11th commandment: John C. Fremont, aka the Pathfinder.
MrBug708

That's part of the clue, yes.
11th Commandment: Thou shalt not get lost.
General Howard. Commanded the 11th Corp ... He sucked so he probably got lost at some point.
Ye will get ye this burger third, Johnny
Gen James Macpherson. A shot in the dark but shot by Confederates. His name could be, a stretch, linked to a Big Mac. :)
WSUCougar
06-17-2004, 02:12 PM
Nope.
You've danced around on the 11th Commandment one, so I'll throw some more clues at you.
Who is associated with the Ten Commandments?
Wolfpack
06-17-2004, 02:16 PM
Moses, which sounds like John Singleton Moseby of Moseby's Raiders fame.
MrBug708
06-17-2004, 02:17 PM
Does the third reference to the 3rd Army? Or the 3rd Corps?
Mosesby Raiders sounds like a winner :)
MrBug708
06-17-2004, 02:23 PM
Raiders of the Lost Ark reference?
WSUCougar
06-17-2004, 02:24 PM
Who played Moses?
And 3rd simply refers to the 3rd slot in the names list (so it formed a better sentence). But 2nd would be more appropriate for a clue in your way of thinking. ;)
Moseby Raiders pioneered the use of guerilla warfare. They executed raids behind enemy lines were getting lost would be diastrous. So Moseby hits the commandant reference and the 'lost' refernence.
WSUCougar
06-17-2004, 02:27 PM
Sorry, it's not Mosby. The answer's already been mentioned but not pinned down.
Did a google search for this but
Brig -General Robert L. McCook or Brig.-General Henry Bohlen
Those are the 2nd and 3rd Union general killed in the war.
But with the extra clue WSUCougar gave how about
Gen Hancock for the 'burger third' hint. Commanded 2nd Corp
MrBug708
06-17-2004, 02:36 PM
Is John Pope the 11th commandment?
WSUCougar
06-17-2004, 02:39 PM
Nope...sorry, I guess I made this one too hard...the actor who played Moses had another famous role.

El Cid was as Civil War hero?
Major Dundee is the only Civil War role I know Heston played but I thought Dundee was a fictional character.

This was not a Civil War role, but it has a huge link to the answer.

Meade? Kinda sounds like meat, which is a Burger....
Ye will get ye this burger third, Johnny.
John Reynolds killed at Gettysburg.

Wolfpack
06-17-2004, 03:36 PM
Dola...found the info that would have made a direct link between getting lost and Lew Wallace, but it's something that only someone who's done a deep study of Shiloh would know right away:
"Shortly after, at Shiloh, General U. S. Grant told Wallace to march his division from Crump’s Landing to the battlefield. Unfortunately, he got lost and arrived at the battlefield too late and could do no more than assist the following day."
My problem is I'm more familiar (aren't we all?) with battles in the eastern theater.
