Has anyone seen this before? And is it correctable? Every team's roster is like this. All the number and ratings are still correct...but the names have been switched over. Unreal. :confused:

Ok...let's just get this out of the way right now. I purchased my copy of TCY on 2/17/02. I've also purchased 2 different copies of FOF as well. I respect the work that Jim does and would not rip him off that way.

Now...if that's the only solution that anyone can think of then I guess no one can help and I'm screwed. But I certainly wouldn't come on a FOF forum and publicy state that....Hey...I pirated this game from someone and now it doesn't work...can someone help me out?

Well, he didn't give you one and only solution...yes, we've seen this before and the problem is you entered in your name and reg code incorrectly (as he said in what you quoted). You have to enter it in exactly as it appears or what happened to you will happen.

EDIT: Or, i just thought that maybe whatever it is that holds your reg info (probably someplace in the registry) got corrupted or deleted. Maybe check for viruses or spyware (run Adaware and Search & Destroy and also run HijackThis)

Why are all the players ending up with the same name, position or salary? Why does the year or the salary cap change drastically without warning? Why do large numbers of players all join one team without warning?

Please reinstall the game and ensure you've entered your registration information EXACTLY as it appears on your receipt. Failure to do so will cause unpredictable results within the game. Remember that the registration information consists of both a name and a serial number. Both must be entered as they appear on the receipt. The name is usually your last name, all in lower case.

Those last four words are what usually trip people up.

I've probably played a combined 50 seasons within numerous careers in TCY...why would my registration come into play when I did it back in 2002? Wouldn't this have reared it's ugly head right around season 3 or 4?

It may have been that you lost your registration during gameplay. It has happened to me once after playing about 25 seasons. I had to just suck it up and reinstalled the game. :(

I've heard of this happening (albeit rarely) before, where for some reason the software becomes un-registered.

It wouldn't happen unless there's damage to the registry. In the old days, people didn't mess with the registry. You were fine unless you decided to reformat your hard drive. In the last year or so, all of a sudden the registry's the favorite target of adware and virii. Developers are talking about going back to .ini files, now that directory protection is better.

Unfortunately, once the data is saved in corrupted form, it's gone.

Yeah...I've pretty much come to the realization that the career is screwed. I was just bitter last night cause I not only had completed 15 seasons in my current dynasty but that I...for the first time...had put in the extra energy to document it on the board. :::sigh:::

Now I've got to make the decision if it would be worth starting a new one before NCAA 2005 comes out in a little over three weeks.

I guess I don't doubt that at all. I just didn't want to not receive help because people were thinking that I did pirate the game.

This is why I always try to back my league up once a season to a different file name or directory. I've been screwed one too many times with corrupted leagues. You never know what can happen. I have a directory on a seperate hard drive with all my archived seasons just in case the whole drive goes down.
