View Full Version : Ben Affleck wins California State Poker Championship
No article yet..... but the Commerce Casino has confirmed that Affleck did win the tournament. My guess is that, this is nothing but good news for the poker community.....

Lol, that kinda sucks though. The guy already has millions of dollars, why does need to go win other peoples money? On the bright side, at least we know he can do something good.

For a poker player, Ben Affleck is not a very good actor.

Now if he would make a career of poker and stay out of movies...

this is great news for poker.
I think only a Brittney Spears tournament win could top this right now.

Maybe because he enjoys playing?

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Movie star Ben Affleck may be unlucky at love, but he is lucky at cards, winning 356,000 dollars and a place at the World Poker Tour Championship in April, officials said.

The gambling screen heart-throb, whose much-feted romance with Jennifer Lopez ended abruptly earlier this year only to see her marry another man this month won a California State Poker Championship late Sunday.
Affleck outlasted a field of 90 players in the 10,000 dollar buy-in event, including fellow film actor Tobey Maguire, who bowed out on the first day of the three-day tournament at Commerce Casino, near Los Angeles.
Coming in second was poker pro Stan Goldstein, who collected 204,930 dollars, while movie executive Chuck Pacheco, who founded Castle Rock Entertainment, pocketed 106,920 dollars an third place.
Affleck, 31, used a couple of pairs -- two jacks in the case of Goldstein and two fives with Pacheco -- to knock the competition out of the tournament, according to casino executives.
Among the players the Oscar-winner outlasted at the final table was former World Champion John Esposito.
Affleck played "a very strong game" and was relaxed and enjoyed himself immensely, according to the casino's Nancy Friedman.
After beating out Goldstein, the famously self-depreciating actor said he was pleased with his own play that at proved he wasn't "a complete donkey" at poker, a game he plays avidly, she said.
Affleck fought his way to victory after starting the final table with the second-to-lowest chip count among the nine players, Friedman said.
The victory earned Affleck a 25,000-dollar seat next year at the World Poker Tour Championship at Las Vegas' Bellagio hotel, the first movie star to do so, according to the casino.

Hey, as long as he has fun and is enjoying it, more power to me. I think that to him, its more of that then the money. Its more about the thrill of winning and playing, and getting to the end.

He's a closet Affleck fan. Or maybe he IS Affleck. How many heads would explode around here if it was found out that Affleck is both a poker AND text sim junkie?!

Can't be. Affleck can't write a business plan. Although maybe that's why it's taking so long.

Just curious, how come you bring up my "business plan" or my ambitions everytime you respond to a post of mine.

But since it is happening, you might as well just ignore the idiots on the Internet, go find Banky, and get your "motherfucking movie check." As you so succinctly put it. That's what's important here.

They worked out who the celeb blogger was - some cartoonist, nobody ACTUALLY that famous, but someone who is 'in the circle' of hollywood.

Cool. I actually have it done, just am reviving it, and adding/subraticing it. No hurry, just am finishing school and that first.
