I've been thinking for a while about setting up a new game around here... I just love the fact that we have so many smart, interesting, and capable people who come by this forum with regularity. It's a great environment for this sort of thing, as our main gamemaster WSUCougar has amply demonstrated.
I have some general ideas for something of a policital exercise... participants would be part of a group that decides on a variety of policy issues, with each participant having some particular stake in the outcome of the various things being debated. (The issues would not be real world issues requiring research or expertise, but just "invented" things meaningful only within the context of the game) It might involve people running for office and elections, or it might just involved all the participants taking a series of votes on issues. (I have thoughts in two very different directions on how to set this up)
I'd imagine that what I'm considering would probably take a couple of weeks or so to play out, and participants would need to be on the forum more or less every day during that period -- at least to check in and vote on whatever issues might be active. More detail to come, but the investment of time would probably be manageable.
Given that brief sketch... please post here if you are interested in joining something like this. My original thinking is that this would work well with about 20-25 people or so... but if this goes forward I'm going to base the size, in part, on the number of people who express interest here (this is not binding, of course).
And, if I get especially weird ideas for this, I'm also interested in who might be willing to play a "special" role -- maybe involved in the competition, but not really as a competitor against everyone else? (Possibly more demanding of your time)
So, who wants to play politics?
