Trade it for a refurb. Much, much cheaper.

Should have used more fiber to keep it regular and this never would have happened. ;)

Mine died 9 months after XBox launched... I had to fight with Microsoft to get it serviced at no charge, since the didn't allow Canadians to buy extended warrantys. They didn't fix it, they just sent me a refurbished unit... but now thats on the way out as well.

goodluck with that, i trashed mine, sony usually fixes their units for free, even without a warranty so i highly recommend the PS2. My lauch PS2 took a crap 2 months ago and sony fixed it for free no questions asked. I never took out an extended warranty or anything, microsoft on the other hand........

Microsoft fixed mine for free a year after the Xbox came out (Dec. 2002). But when it broke last December, they gave me no love (so I just bought another one).

I found this on Drudge. Not sure if it is legit or not. Have to fill out a bunch of surveys or something.

If you have a dvd drive error, you can buy one off ebay for about $30 and swap them out. You can even turn around and sell the bad one for parts back on ebay. That's what I did.
