View Full Version : WTF?! Did I get MoTS'd, or just plain unlucky?

Ok, let's play, you guess the score! I had my first league match of the year this week, at home against a decent opponent. I was saving my best team for the cup this week, but I still played a team I thought would have a decent shot at winning. Here are the final tallies:

Atlas Mademedoits
Player rating and Team formation
Team Attitude: Play it Cool
Tactic: Normal
Tactic skill: (Unlimited)

Midfield: wretched (high)
Right Side Defence: poor (high)
Central Defence: weak (low)
Left Side Defence: weak (very high)
Right Side Attack: poor (low)
Central Attack: wretched (very high)
Left Side Attack: poor (very low)

Tefland United
Player rating and Team formation
Team Attitude: (Hidden)
Tactic: Normal
Tactic skill: (Unlimited)

Midfield: wretched (very high)
Right Side Defence: inadequate (very low)
Central Defence: inadequate (low)
Left Side Defence: poor (low)
Right Side Attack: poor (very low)
Central Attack: poor (low)
Left Side Attack: wretched (high)

My defense is better than all of his attacks, my midfield was worse (I PiC'd), yet he dominated ball percentage, and if you guessed it... he won 5-0! WTF?! Is this the new game engine, or something different? I don't understand it.

not knowing what his usual midfield is, it's hard to say if he MOTSed or not, but MOTS doesn't have nay effect other than boosting midfield, so this is not the reason why you lost by so much...

Bad luck and getting screwed by the engine has happened in the past, and it will happen again in the future, I guess...

Most of his goals were either on events or set pieces I'll color these goals.

Blue = Set pieces
Pink = Experience
YellowGreen = Special Event x2

A well placed corner kick from Philip Bush was followed by Andy Marlow´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant goal for Tefland. The result now 0-1. The visitors Benjamin Watson took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 11th minute. 0 - 2 for Tefland. After 25 minutes Mademedoits´s Henri Deville contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. The referee showed Teflands Lü Mu-Ziq the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Stu Landrum increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. In the games 40:th minute Mademedoits´s James Read fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked James Read for taking a dive. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Tefland held the ball, with a clear 55 percent possession rate.

After 55 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Benjamin Watson who increased Tefland´s lead to 0 - 4. Tefland's Germán Rabelo scored 0 - 5 by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent goalie no other option than to pick up the ball from the net. By now Tefland were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Albert Hendrickson had a good opportunity to reduce in the 61st minute but wasn´t cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. Tefland, bringing the final ball possession rate to 56 percent, dominated the battle.

In theory without the corner kick, the lack of experience, and the 2 special events you would have only lost 1-0.. but obviously, as it is you still took the 5-0 defeat.

I would have expected that you would have lost, but not by so much.

I got MOTS'ed (Cup midfield was a 6.5, league was a 12) while PICing and lost 4-2. Both my goals were SE's (quick winger & misunderstanding), so it could have been worse for me. It sucked, but I expect they'll get thumped the next couple of weeks just to protect 3 points they probably would have gotten with a normal this early in the season.

I was hoping to pull out a tie, or maybe win with a little luck... I wasn't expecting to lose 5-0! I just wanted to save my best players for the cup game and save any injuries, I guess it kinda backfired :mad:

Yea i got screwed the same kinda way except i only lost 3-2 i was at lost for words as my 12 game winning streak came to an end so abruptly. I think this new engine or the hattrick gods are f**king us over terribly. But hey u win some, and lose alot. I just hope i dont get knock down to div 6 again.

Aren't these both regular goals?

The score for this match was a bit surprising, as I would've predicted a low scoring game, but I still would've picked the team that won. They won midfield and had superior defenses.

The first one in my understanding is a poor experience event. And I'm pretty sure 'volleys' have always been considered special events?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

How can one admittedly very good player in poor form and a normal game at home = 5.5 more levels of midfield then? I've never seen anything like that just going from PIC to normal.

well he's PICing, has a scrub playing, is on the road

vs.

has a stud playing (in poor form), is normal, is at home, has better TS (PIC with a passable leadership coach)

i think the difference in all those could very well add up to your midfield differnece. I suppose they could have MOTSed, but it doesn't make much sense. I suppose we'll find out more after his next cup and league match

No, those two are normal goals.

Corner SE, 3 regular goals, and then a Long-Shot SE
