Well i'm on my 3rd full season, in Spanish VI, second in the league 3 points under the leader. I have tons of chances to win this season and get the promotion as my midfield is far superior to the rest of my series, my main problem is my scorers that does't get enought goals.

My main problem is that i'm on negative cash (-80k), loosing around 15k per two weeks. Also my attack is my worst part right now, with two solid scoring, passable passing forwards.

I have been training PM since season 1, this are my current Playmakers:

First team PM:

Albert Landré
TSI = 4 640 (464 000 €) , 20 years, solid form
Has wretched experience and wretched leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: outstanding Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: poor
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: inadequate

NOTES: He just popped this week to outstanding.

Jeffrey Stanley
TSI = 5 110 (511 000 €) , 20 years, passable form
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities [Technical]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: outstanding Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: solid

NOTES: He is on 33% for his next PM pop.

Luis Martínez
TSI = 2 560 (256 000 €) , 25 years, passable form
Has weak experience and wretched leadership abilities

Stamina: excellent Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: excellent Passing: wretched
Winger: inadequate Defending: inadequate
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched

Second Team:

Kirill Kurdumov
TSI = 1 400 (140 000 €) , 20 years, weak form
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: excellent Passing: wretched
Winger: inadequate Defending: wretched
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: disastrous

NOTES: He is on 44% for his next PM pop.

Juan María Ríomayor
TSI = 2 580 (258 000 €) , 21 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: excellent Passing: weak
Winger: inadequate Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

NOTES: He is on 44% for his next PM pop.

George Handy
TSI = 1 910 (191 000 €) , 20 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: solid Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: solid Passing: weak
Winger: weak Defending: inadequate
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: weak

NOTES: He is on 56% for his next PM pop.

Hasse Ragnström
TSI = 1 350 (135 000 €) , 21 years, weak form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: solid Passing: poor
Winger: wretched Defending: passable
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: poor

NOTES: He is on 59% for his next PM pop.

I could sell Luis Martinez for around 500k as he is old to be trained, but he is one of my best PM because his Excellent at stamina too. With 500k i could get out of debt and mybe buy two trainees, nothing that will really improve my team.

I could sell Albert Landre or Jeffrey Stanley to get around 1.5M that would help me a lot to get out of debt, buy some nice trainees and a good Forward.
The problem is that i would sell one of my best players that is also young, and i could miss him for this season and specially for the next one if i get the promotion to V.

What would you guys do? it's the time to sell my trainees, get money and rebuild the team? Should i keep them as they are also my first team players and also a great value for the next season if i get the promotion?

Thanks in advance

It's a marathon, not a sprint.

explain how people know when players are going to pop?

Using HAM (http://www.lokesoftware.dk/ham/index.htm)

BTW RPI-Fan, could you be a bit more explicit? :) i suposse that you mean that i shouldn't sell anybody and look long term right?

Sell Martinez, what a waste of a training spot.
Sell Ragnström, oldest solid you have
Sell Handy, 2nd oldest solid.

I'd sell the two excellents also and then I would buy three 17 year old passables and one 18 year old excellent.

Correct... there's no way you can really help your team all that much this season, anyways... sell your Outstanding, and you have a much weaker midfield. Keep him, and you have no attack.

BTW, that 25yo Exc PM'er won't come close to $500k... you will be lucky to get $300k.

I'd argue that he should think long-term AND sell most of his trainees. Right now he is trainee a bunch of guys that are at bad ages for their level of skill for training. If he is truely thinking long term he should have younger guys with more comparable skills

explain how people know when players are going to pop?We use manager assistant programs to keep track of when they last popped, and a combination of experience and rules of thumb to figure out how long it will take them to pop again, considering their age and our coach. I'd guess on 9-10 wks for the 21's to pop, 8-9 for the 20's, both assuming a solid coach.

i would sell them all. 20 years old is too high for my preferences at those skill levels as a trainer. wait till each one pops one more skill level then sell them. buy up 17-18 year old passables.

I would sell Martinez (25yo) immediately and replace him with a younger trainee.

I would sell the 20yos as they pop to their next level and replace them as well. I like the idea of getting 18yo excellents in addition to 17yo passables (or solids) for the right price as this will allow you to get a rotation going of selling players at the same age... At least, that's my plan.

explain how people know when players are going to pop?Here's a couple of screen captures from HAM:
http://moosh.net/~timothy/ht/ham1.gif

http://moosh.net/~timothy/ht/ham2.gif

(the 27 yo plays on the wing/wingback).

So, I know that Peter Rolfsson and Sören Fjälling are going to pop this week. I am going to sell them after Friday. I know that Mario Fraeking will pop in about 2-3 weeks.

all the best,

Ok, i have Martinez, Ragnström and Riomayor for sale and it will be finished in 3 hours.

Seems that for all them i'll get around 600k, what should i buy?
I would like something nice for my attack, but currently my two strickers are solid scoring / pasable passing so i'm not sure if i can get anything beter just with 600k. Mybe an excellent scorer without passing, will that help me enought, worths to expend on an excellent scorer without good passing?

Also i could get an excellent winger as both of mine are solids.
The other option would be to buy a better defender, i have 3 solids, but defense helps less than attack.

Of course i could also save the money for the future or even upgrade my stadium, it's currently on 20k sites and i have 1100 supporters (i should be able to fill a 35k sits one)

I would keep training the two outstandings, especially the one with passable stamina to at least brilliant PM and excellent stamina. Their ages aren't horrible and a season or two more of training will give you a lot more cash.

Thanks for all your answers, that is the cause of fofc being my favourite HT board :)

Luckily the sales went much better that we thought:

30/07/2004 Sold Luis Martínez to Nashua Dolphins 547 000 €
30/07/2004 Sold Juan María Ríomayor to Churchinford 385 005 €
Ragnström was not sold so i'll keep training him until his next pop to excellent in about 4 weeks.
Total profit=932k - fees

With that amount and knowing that i'll win mostly of the matches in my current series, and that i'm filling everweek my 20k stadium i decided to upgrade to 40k sits and hopefully that will take me out of the constant 15k loses every two weeks. The upgrade costed me near 500k.

Now i have another 400 to spend after buying three cheap Pasable PM 17's. I need to improve the central attack as my outstanding PM have low pass attributes so they don't help and my Forwards are both solid scoring/ pasable passing. I have seen lots of excellent scorers for around 300k without secondaries, would that really improve my team or should i wait to get enought money for a higher improvement? My main problem is that my series will be probably decided by goals difference and i'm 5 goals under the first.

Well, just bought this veteran player to help my attack, i only need him to recover a bit his form but acording to HAM his price should have been 440k and i bought him for 370k so he doesn't seem a bad purchase.

Alan Toolan (13514287)
30 years, weak form, healthy
A sympathetic guy who is calm and honest.
Has inadequate experience and passable leadership abilities.
