Experience Upgrades

Anyone have a timeline on experience upgrades? I am in the process of rebuilding my squad with youngsters and half of my starters are under 21. Things is, they are all at disastrous or wretched experience. I understand that cup games give one the most experience, but my team was out after round 3. Yes, Hattrick is a marathon, but these experience upgrades seem to be taking an awfully long time.

If I recall correctly, it's about 1 level of experience per 1.5 seasons, assuming they play in the league matches. Friendlies give hardly any experience at all, cup games twice the amount of league games.

So yes, it does take an awfully long time to increase experience, but hey, it's a free upgrade to all your players...

Think of it this way - a 17-year old youth pull, who played continuously till he was 35, would reach roughly world-class experience. Seems reasonable to me in that light.

based on counting 1 point for a league game...

friendly: 0.1 points
international friendly: 0.2 points ( its also an international friendly if a foreign team visits you at your stadium )
league: 1 point
cup: 2 points
national team: 3 points

after every match an experience update will take place.
every player that scored a goal, got injured or received a card gains the above points.
all other fielded players have a 33% chance to get 3 points. (i have to say that i am not 100% sure about that, see info link on top right)

33% and 3 are a guess, those numbers were presented as an example by the devs but it may very well be something else. I always say it's a 1 in x chance of getting x times the base amount of experience.

The only guys on your team that need to be young are your trainees, everyone else can be 25+ and not hurt your squad at all. Usually these older players will already have some small amount of experience. Just something to keep in mind the next time you go to upgrade a position, younger isn't always better.

Does anyone know what day it happens during the week? Does it happen on Mondays? Thursdays? Saturdays? I never notice, I just catch it sometime during the week.

Yeah, that's a funny "feature". You can actually see the experience upgrade as soon as the match starts.

Based on this system, I've noticed that there is a wide variety of when experience pops.

I've had players that take as much as 40 xp's to pop and I'v had players take as few as 12 xp's to pop. I'd say the average is somewhere in the mid 20's with most players popping between 25-28 xp's.

I'm not sure if age has anything to do with the rate that players gain xp.

i would definately say this is the same experience i have had. i try to keep an eye on it with HAM. I have had a guy go as low as 15 and my highest was in the 40s. but on average its usually in the late twenties.

I've used a lot of older players over the seasons, and it seems to me that they bump a little bit faster than my young'uns, but I am pretty convinced that there is a huge range for when players bump, and it is probably just coincidence.
