Ok besides what HT says about playing friendlies in their rules section, and the obvious drawbacks of possibly of a player getting injured....are there any other drawbacks to playing friendlies?

Just wondering what the short and longterm effects are since I want to schedule more friendlies to play some of my players who dont get that much playing time, plus get some games in for my new young goalkeeper.

Thanks for any help.

there are no real drawbacks to playing friendlies and you should always schedule a friendly after you are out of the cup. if you expect to have any kind of successful training program, its a must. there are a few things to consider though such as...
1. Players can get injured in friendlies like in normal games. Just dont play your star players in a friendly when they already played in the league match this week and this isnt a problem.
2. If you schedule an international friendly where you are the away team, you have to pay 6000 USD for travel expenses. Not a big deal, but it can cut into your profits if you play a junky internation team.
3. If you schedule a friendly, then forget to set your line up and cause a walkover, you loose all training that week. So if you schedule a friendly, just make sure you set your line up.

The good vastly outweighs they bad. There is no way you can have a successful training program without friendlies.

I figured that much, possible injuries are always present in anything you do. I am not sure what you are talking about in #3. I set my orders every week before a game, but what is a walkover? Is that where your previous lineup from last week is the same for this week?

a walkover is where you forget to set your line up basically. if you always remember to set your line up, there is nothing to worry about.

Actually I'll nitpick a little here and say this isn't really what a walkover is.

A walkover occurs when you fail to have at least 9 players on your starting lineup.

One way to make sure you will ALWAYS have some sort of a lineup set for any game is by checking the square marked "Make this the standard setup" every once in a while when you enter your orders for a league match. That way, you will at least always have players for the start of your friendlies.

Sure, if you forget to set the proper players for your friendly, your "b" team trainees, your starters will play twice in the week, but you will not lose training for that week...

Ya I've seen this happen already. A guy challenged me, I accepted, then turns out he didnt send his orders and didnt have 9 players and I won 5-0.
