I am wondering about Zonealarms firewall app are people still having problems with the most recent version ?I haven't updated it in a few months ,I am using version 4.5.594.I saw that they now got a 5.0.1 version or something like that.Was this the version everyone had trouble with or is this a new version ?

Version 5 is nothing but trouble. I've uninstalled my copy and am running Kerio, another free firewall.

What exactly is the problem with version 5?

It's up to 5.1 now, and I'm having no problems whatsoever. I also didn't have any problems with version 5.0.

For me, the problem was that at random times my internet connection speed went down to a crawl. Nothing else helped but shutting down the PC and restarting. This happened even with Zonealarm inactivated, the only thing that helped was to uninstall it completely.

Various internet applications as chat programs, network games or file sharing programs have been reported to cause this type of behaviour in Zonealarm. The company changed ownership recently and since then their releases have been riddled with small, nagging problems. Shame since it was an excellent product in the beginning.
