King's X (what a surprise...)
Thought Industry
Tea Party

other bands - Prince, Metallica, Motley Crue and Def Leppard, for instance, I can listen to stuff from a certain era (usually the early stuff), but can't stomach other stuff.

Ahh, I used to love Black 47..I have the self titled album, Fire of Freedom, Green Suede Shoes, and Home of the Brave which I believe were the first 4 albums. Some great stuff, I haven't listened to it in years though, they still making good music?

I'll have to check it out.

but not the Housemartins?

It's funny. I have a few Housemartin's cd's, but I could never really get into them as much as the Beautiful South. They really improved the sound by having a female singer, I think.

Ac/DC
Rush
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Eagles
Alabama
The Who
Meatloaf
Lynyrd Skynyrd

Honorable Mention: Rolling Stones (I can't get no satisfaction and Sympathy for the devil are just too damn repetitive and long for me. Kills the whole thing), Kiss (early stuff is great, but later stuff is trash {Lick it up? Puhleeease}. Iron Maiden (see Kiss above {Powerslave? Puhleeease}. Aerosmith (not sure why, but I soured on them. I think it may be kinda like Quik and Billy Joel), ZZ Top (very distinct, unique sound, but have some bad songs mixed in with the good). Run DMC (classic early stuff, but later they started to fade).

Rancid is a damn good band, but i DO have a listening "cut off line" with them.
Ever listened to Common Rider? The return to music by OpIvy's Jesse Micheals? Pretty good, it is just great hearing his voice on something else again. And it just seems like it is exactly what he was, 1/2 half of OpIvy's style. You take Common Rider and blend it with Rancid and you get exactly what those guys where.....if you get what I am saying?

never really listened to Common Rider much. I'm not really sure why. I just think what OpIvy had was something that couldn't really be duplicated. Kind of like catching lightining in a bottle. As usual, i don't think Matt Freeman gets enough credit for Operation Ivy. Everyone knows what an amazing bass player he is, but even Lars and Tim seem to overshadow him a bit in Rancid. Freeman is Rancid's sound. Simple as that. It is nice to see that he hooked up with Mike Ness and will be playing bass for Social Distorions (long awaited) US tour. Should make for some awesome shows

sorry for getting off topic there for a bit :)

Speaking of Hawkwind, Blender magazine had a great quote about Lemmie Killmister (Motorhead lead man formerly of Hawkwind). They said Lemmie's musical talent is akin to Gallagher really having Charlie Chaplin comedic genius, but he just can't seem to rid himself of the watermelons.
