If you think he's the one calling all the shots, leading the attack on terror, and in complete control of his administration, view the following video.

No thanks.
Are their really still undecideds out there who see this kind of stuff, or those against Kerry for that matter, and say, "Wow, that's a novel and unbiased examination of the candidate. I think I'll vote for the other guy"? I just can't see the point in this stuff.
Please, please November, hurry up and pass.

This isn't a knock on you personally, cartman. I didn't even watch the video. It's just that stuff like this from both sides is wearing me thin.

I don't care if you are republican or democrat, that guy is a moron and you're lying to yourself if you watch that and disagree. He should not be the figurehead of anything, let alone a country.

Okay, I jumped quickly, and I shouldn't have. I watched the video, and it is just a live answer from Bush. My point, though, is still valid. I just can't fathom that there's people out there who would say, "Wow, this guy's not too bright. I better not vote for him." I think Saturday Night Live had done a good enough job of ramming that down everyone's throats.
Again, I'm not bashing you personally for posting it cartman. I'm just tired of this kind of stuff. It seems like it's the same stuff over and over.

That's pretty funny. Reminds me of when I didn't know the answer to questions on tests in school. :)

While the video is funny, it's more sad than anything. This is the leader of the free world, and he's an idiot. That's an answer an 8th grader gives when he doesn't know the answer.

Theres a difference between being a public speaker and not knowing what the hell he's talking about. My guess is that if the guy had asked him to define what tribal sovreignty was he couldn't do it.

There are a lot of people who aren't great speakers but are nonetheless able to convey their ideas. It's not the eloquence that's missing here, but the ideas.
In any case, I don't buy that he isn't a good public speaker. Bush, if you watch his campaign stops on cspan or whatever, is actually a fairly artful public performer. He can work a crowd far, far better than Kerry. He's very comfortable and under control in these appearances. The man has some real skill in this regard, which a lot of people don't give him credit for. He doesn't fumble or stammer because he's in front of a crowd or a camera, he fumbles and stammers when he has no clue what to say, which appears to be just about any time somebody asks a question that his staff has not specifically prepared him for.
I guess the world is overflowing with idiots.
You are correct, sir.

Suicane75, you are exactly right. Bush is clearly a good public speaker when he has a script in front of him, or perhaps even the odd time he actually knows his subject matter. That clip has nothing to do with public speaking and everything to do with not having any idea how to respond to the question posed to him.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. Proof of intelligence (or lack thereof)? Clinton chose Albright as Sec State, Bush chose Powell. That makes Bush infinitely smarter than Clinton. Additionally, Bush chose a VP to give him the clout in DC, Clinton chose a moron and Kerry chose a clown. If we were a dictatorship or a monarchy, I would worry, but we are not fortunately.

OK, so I watch this thing expecting to see Bush really looking like an idiot. Instead I get that? I get him stumbling over his words beginning to answer a question and then I don't even get to see the end?
It looked to me like he just blanked out, not that he really didn't know. (though I'd have to see the finish of the tape to see if that's right)
I remember teaching a beginning computer class at the university when I worked as a computer tech. I was talking about how the industry was working to find ways around the standard IRQ architecture of a PC. (USB was the main topic of the discussion) I knew the 16 IRQ assigments like the back of my hand. Until I was asked what IRQ 4 was. I drew a blank and stammered for five minutes before some guy in the back of the class yelled out "It's COM 1"
I knew what IRQ 4 was. Heck, I troubleshot modems. Yet I locked and looked stupid. In my case, I recovered to have a pretty good speech.
What did George do? I dunno. I just know that it's not real fair to call him a moron off of a 15 second clip of him having a brain cramp. God forbid any of you ever have to give a speech and face the same thing.
I'd be interested to see how he recovered from that. I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that if I went through every Kerry speech in his history, that I'd find a case of him locking up too.

To be honest, I really doubt that anyone bothers him with stuff about tribal sovereignty. It wouldn't surprise me if he really doesn't know anything about it, and just lets Gale Norton handle whatever needs to be done.

I speak three times a week, and can tell you something like that happens all the time. A complete mind-blank on the word I wanted to use, etc.
(Not saying that is what this is because I can't see it).

Grant,
It looks to me like he gets caught up on the word "sovereign" The clip starts with a guy asking him what tribal sovereignty means in the 21st century. Bush makes his biggest mistake right off, in that he doesn't take a second or two to think before he opens his mouth. (seriously, anyone who has ever taken a public speaking course knows this can be a deadly mistake)
Bush then butchers things saying sovereignty is just that, it means your sovereign. He stumbles over it a couple more times (including an uncomfortable laugh from the crowd) and the screen cuts out before it shows him finishing the response. Without the finishing context, we don't know if Bush was really stupid on the subject matter or if he just had a rough start.
Being in a public speaking position more than once and going through Dale Carnegie, I have some sympathy for him and will give him the benefit of the doubt until I hear the finish. (though the odds someone will come up with that are slim and none)
If Bush truly was dumb as a board on the subject, it shows a complete lack of caring for the people he was representing that day and it's sad he didn't take the time to do some research and preperation. I'd think it would show more rudeness than stupidity and that's what would concern me.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until someone can fire off the full response.
Buc,
Yeah, I know. It's sad what we've become. :(
