it is part of the Olympic women's soccer tournament, yes..

the problem is, it takes about 16-20 days to run a tournament and give proper rest. Problem is, the Olympics only last a few days less then that. So they open the tournament before the Opening Ceremonies..

it's normal.. the "Miracle on Ice" team in 1980 played their first game the day of the opening ceremonies.
