Heh...not going to read much into what this means for their political fact-checking, but I found it amusing this morning when they were reporting Hurricane Charley with text-overlays as "Charlie." You know, when every other station in America had it spelled right.

I would like to express my profound disappointment that with one Hurricane named Bonnie already on the way, and with another appearing that by convention would be need to be given a male name beginning with C, that they went with "Charley" and not "Clyde".
Now MSNBC is reporting Charley has been upgraded to a category 4 hurricane while FOXNews says it was upgraded to a category 3. I do not have all the peices yet but I am sure Karl Rove and the Republican National Commitee are involved! :)

I don't even watch Fox News, so I'm not on "their" side. I just think you're beyond stretching it if you think that Fox News' misspelling of a word makes them a less credible news source. I don't care if you think it's amusing or not, your point was clearly (as you stated in the begining phrase of your post) that this should reflect poorly on their coverage of other events. Which is absurd.

Again: Not going to read much into it. I suppose you would have felt it necessary to post this type of thread had another network misspelled Charley's name. No, you wouldn't have. You made it obvious what your intentions were.
Your post was the equivalent of, "I'm not saying I think Roger Clemens is an asshole, but I found it really funny that he got bombed in the All-star game."
I got your point.

Added: When folks are worried about something, many times they tend to joke about it. To see a news station spell the name of something that's literally threatening us wrong, when it's not something that just cropped up, is funny in a black humor kind of way. It's silly that I'm having to explain this.

aadik - the point was that any post no matter how small the "tweak" at the other is, gets turned into the ultimate "good vs evil" thread. There's no reason that this had to be a nomyths vs ksyrup slugfest over the validity of foxnews. If you thought it was funny then say so and leave it at that, if not say it wasn't a big deal and drop it. But of course, that's not how it works. Ksyrup's how "woe is me" routine is laughable as I said earlier. "Pointless shots" are taken by both sides here all the time, this one was pretty minor IMO.
Was the slipup funny, I guess. Was it a big deal, no. Is it representative of any bigger issue with fox news, no. It was a stupid, yet humerous to some, slipup.
The vid clip that Arles posted was much funnier :D

To my dear Charlie:
Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
To never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory,
While you were the one with all the strain.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
But I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings,
'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
So high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.
