Correll Buckhalter blows out knee.....again and that leaves Brian Westbrook the Eagles only back. Fantasy leagues boards change immediately.

Well, they have Owens to throw to... and McNabb can be added to a running back by commitee approach. Go sign someone like Rudi Johnson or Stacey Mack (if they're still FAs), and you have three runners there... :) Or, you can move Owens to RB like I do in NFL Street.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'd be thrilled if the Eagles could get him, but I thought the Bengals had him locked up.

Last I checked, not only is Johnson still a Bengal, he is expected to start for them this year.

James Stewart maybe? He has injury problems, but if he only gets the ball half the time, maybe he'll last twice as long...? :D

How so? They have Bennett as the feature back, Moe Williams as the goal line back, and they drafted Mewelde Moore last year who I liked alot in college. Losing Smith doesn't seem like a huge deal to me, unless they were planning on trading Bennett to Miami

As an Eagles fan I can safely say that Brian Westbrook > Correll Buckhalter.
Of course, Andy Reid will probably go out an get another runner, because God forbid the Eagles not have two if not three running backs to rotate into play. sigh

Well wasnt Bennett injured last year? It appeared, to me at least, that the fact that Smith averaged over 5 yards a carry last season would lead to increased playing time this season. I would imagine this is a blow to the plans for Minnesota this season.

I agree Westbrook is a better back, but he's not a big enough guy to hold up carrying the ball 15-20 times a game over the course of a season.
Westbrook is most effective as a 3rd down back, because he's a dangerous runner when he gets the ball out in the open field. They still need a big strong back that can blast it through the middle.
BTW, I was at that game tonight. When Owens caught that TD pass, the crowd went completely nuts. You would have thought you were watching a playoff game, not a meaningless preseason game. And then when Buckhalter went down shortly after that, the mood in the stadium took a 180 degree turn, like the air was just let out of the balloon.

Bennett was healthy by the end of last year, and is healthy now. He was expected to be their starter this year. Losing Smith doesn't ehlp, but I don't see this affecting the Vikes' outlook this season too much, at least not if things stay as they are right now (with regard to health).

Agreed. Not sure Westbrook can take the pounding. He gets hurts a lot himself, you know. The Eagles will need to pick up a more durable runner to spell Westbrook. My guess is they will end up with someone who loses out in competition elsewhere, like one of the Packer backups for instance, or maybe Troy Hambrick, now with Oakland.
I don't if anyone in football thinks either Lewis or Watters are still legit options, but who knows?

Hey, after watching McNabb throw the ball to Pinkston and Thrash the last few years, to finally see him throw the ball to a legitimate WR was simply a thing of beauty.
I'm sick of humble. Humble is boring. We tried humble and it didn't work. At this point I'm ready for a Sharpy-carrying, star-dancing, Garcia-bashing guy with some real talent.

what is it with the home teams wearing white? i've seen philly do it, and tampa bay. and dallas has made it a tradition. i fucking hate it. nfl tradition is white is road in football, team color is home. don't mess with this.
ps - one of the reasons i hate it is because i easily identify where the game is. i thought 'man, to has some balls for showing off before scoring tonight..' on the highlights, only to read this thread and find out it was in philly. ugh.

Jamal Lewis and Rudi Johnson both mistakenly mentioned as FAs, and these are starters on teams, and this is a football message board. I won't even mention that if Hatch was referring to Duce Staley that he also butchered his name.
FWIW, I think James Stewart would be a nice compliment to Westbrook. Sad to see Buckhalter hurt again, I was looking forward to seeing what he could do..

I don't know if they are hurting that much.....and people may call me a homer or what not.....Reno Mahe has been doing quite well, and is a decent back in Reids offense.
Granted you would need another back, cause right now, Reno is a 3rd down type back, unless of course Westbrook can take 2 downs constantly

It would be nice if some team would sign the FA QB Peyton Manning...
James Stewart would fit the Eagles nicely, as he would get hurt and miss the season.
Isn't it great that nobody even thinks that Lawrence Phillips is even a possibility for any team anymore? Although, he and TO would fit right in. He'd prolly come in and pull a McGahee "I need to start..."
Geez guys, I want to be part of your Fantasy Football league and pick up Priest Holmes & Tomlinsons while you still "think" Terrell Davis & Jamal Anderson are the two best RBs in the NFL....
Back to the subject : I think this means even more runs by McNabb, making him even more prone to get injured...

I won't be surprised if they try. This offseason showed they are in the "gotta win the Super Bowl!" panic. Usually they would just sit still on something like this, but the Kalu and now Buckhalter injuries are really screwing up their plans.
It'll be interesting to see if they try to make a move.

For the 80 years before you were born, home teams in all sports, including the NFL, wore white at home. This 'tradition' that represents the entirety of your sports watching career is an abomination against the natural order of things. White at home is good. All else is bad.
