Since football season is starting, I'm playing FOF again. I want to try using the Historical Draft Files (from 1971 until present), and I was wondering how you guys use them?

Do you start a fictional league with made-up players, and then during Draft 1 you import 1971's Draft, then for Draft 2, you import 1972's Draft, etc.? Or is there a way to use the Draft files to initially make your league?Or somehow have the 1970 rosters, so you can truly play out the rest of the NFL?

I think I'll start a new season with fake players and then import the drafts in order after that, but I was just wondering how everyone else uses them?

There's a 1970 roster file that I imagine most people have used. That file has some issues, though - a lot of rookies are already fully developed and the talent level is extremely high. An earlier version also has the problem with only sporting three true placekickers.

Drafts - yes, when you're in the staff hiring phase of the 1971 season, you import the 1971 draft file, and repeat this procedure every season.

Dola.

On Senator's Historical Project site, there's a link to this page, which explains the whole procedure in detail: http://www.cflfb.com/fof/how_do_i_use_these_files.htm
