Just learned something new...if you don't fill in all your backup spots for a game and you have an injury, even if your backup doesn't play that position, he will be put in. And that's the story how JAG lost a week of training for one of his keepers.
Live and learn...

I keep 3 keepers on staff, two trainees and my uber backup clown who backups every single game in case someone gets injured. That way if I get lucky and get a +1 to one of my trainees, I get 3 players trained in that week. I rather like the system, myself.

I went and paid 5k for a 17 year old passable forward that is basically only playing in case of injuries (and the tiny amount of training everyone on the team gets) I figure eventually I can get him to excellent and turn a profit of some sort.

I'm confused... I thought you would just play a man down if someone gets injured and there is no sub?

Live and learn...There must be more to the story... like, maybe, filling in one of the backup slots but not all of them?
I play most friendlies with no backups whatsoever specified, and whenever someone goes down I play with 10. I don't know what would happen in the event of a keeper injury, but as a keeper trainer, I don't really care -- either way, it wouldn't be costing someone training.
From the French conference, In French:
Si 2 défenseurs blessés : le 2nd remplaçant est le milieu.
Si 2 milieux blessés : le 2nd remplaçant est le défenseur.
Si 2 attaquants blessés : le 2nd remplaçant est l'ailier.
Si 2 ailiers blessés : le 2nd remplaçant est l'attaquant.
Si 2 gardiens blessés : le 2nd remplaçant est le défenseur.
if 2 defenders are injured, the 2nd backup is the midfield
if 2 midfielders are injured, the 2nd backup is the defender
if 2 forwards are injured, the 2nd backup is the winger
if 2 wingers are injured, the 2nd backup is the forward
if 2 keepers are injured, the 2nd backup is the defender

So one of your guys could lose training if you train an outfield position.
That is why it is good to have no subs except for a guy at keeper (like your coach), and if your team gets an injury anywhere he'll go in. If that injury is to the keeper he'll go in. If you get more then one injury and the 2nd guy is the keeper then you may get crewed over again.
