Why can't you jack the BNR coverage to 70% and be successful? I've tried to build an defense around BNR with settings of 10/70/10/10, 20/50/15/15 in Normal Defense mode (-9 to 13), and have been at the bottom of the league in pass D in my sims.

Key components are rated as such

Rush End (I play him LE/RE depending on situation)

Safeties overly important in this scheme? (bet they are)

I remember Jim saying somewhere that FOF2k4 doesn't value the cornerback skills enough to have a big effect on the overall performance (i.e. Deion shutting down everyone going his way), meaning that would probably be tweaked in an eventual FOF2k5 release.

Without seeing the rest of your roster, my guess is that your pass rush isn't very great. To play man or bump & run, you've got to get to the passer quickly. Either upgrade your line, or blitz all night and make sure they remember forever the night they played the titans.
