Anyone in the FOFC community going to this game? I would like to go but I want to see if anyone from here was considering going. Either PM me or respond here.

I'll be there, along with 7000+ students strong, along with what will probably be a sellout.
Tailgating in the blue lot. Celebrating the big 21 in style!

I don't know what's going on with my jerky friends. They're worried about getting tickets and what not, so it's not looking good for yours truly.
Happy birthday Logan.

It's precious how important this game appears to be for Rutgers fans.
I'm just looking at it as yet another warm-up for the Big Ten season. I'll be watching it on DirecTV

That's all the trash-talk you can muster???
Come on man, I'm just trying to spice up an otherwise routine ass-whooping by the Spartans.

Brian Leonard/ Justise Hairston will have a Chris Perry circa 2003 performance against the Spartans.

Sparty, Sparty, Sparty... You guys crack me up. Why the hate? Why the mudslinging? We're all Michigan brothers except for that one afternoon!
Good luck with Rutgers! Wasn't Sparty's starting QB hurt on punt coverage? What's up with that? That John L. is a madman.

His is most definitely insane. He's old school though, and I like that. Plus, he's not conservative which is nice, since we won't win a lot of games this season, but it should still be fun to watch.
By the way, I'm watching U of M beat the shit out of Miami of Ohio right now, and I'm not rooting for Miami.

I've been watching them since I can remember. I've been there for Desmond Howard, Tyrone Wheatley, Tim Biaukabutka, etc.
You're an idiot for making such assumptions.

Whats this game tuning Michgian State up for again? It's to show them how to turn their heads and watch the play pass them by? I haven't figured it out yet.

Rutgers should be ahead. They basically dominated the first quarter and missed those field goals. Leonard is awesome.

You aren't watching the same game I am. You had one big play and that was it. Your kicker is awful.
Add in the fact that MSU recovered an OBVIOUS fumble, and the Spartans should be ahead, not Rutgers.
Why the fuck am I arguing with Rutgers fans? You've had like 8 wins in three whole seasons. Hell, even the Lions have won more games in that span, Please sit down.

It's not an assumption. ALL Michigan fans are bandwagoners, that's why I despise you guys so much. You guys don't understand suffering, yet at the first sign of discomfort, you rats run for cover.

And I run at the first sign of distrest? I watched all of the Minnesota game last year, knowing our season hung in the balance. I never turned it off. During our struggles where we played Alabama and A&M in the Outback bowls, those weren't great times, and I never stopped watching.

I'm extremely proud of you.
Spartans are in trouble right now. I'm not goiving up, but it's not looking good. I underestimated Rutgers and overestimated MSU (even though I've admitted that they have a crappy team).
Damon Dowdell is an awful QB, and I'm pissed that Smith started him over Reaves.

MSU should probably try to get their players conditioned better. How many times did they have a player leave because of cramps?

Congrats to Rutgers. One thing though: Your players acting so excited (guys falling over and crying) because they beat a piss-poor Spartan team doesn't look very good.
You guys have a decent team and might make it to a bowl game, but don't go overboard.
Again, congrats.

This was the biggest win in years for the program, and a major test. If we had lost, it would have been "same old Rutgers" and we couldn't have that.
Did we need to storm the field? Hell no. But it was fun.
I took some great pictures. Once I get everything updated I'll post them.
P.S. Did they show James Gandolfini on TV? I touched his shoulder.
P.P.S. Happy birthday to me. :)

They mentioned that Gandolfini was there, but I don't think they showed him. I'd have to check the tape tho.
Since I fully intended to log on and make fun of them if they lost, I feel obligated to at least say good game. Nice win Rutgers.

Great win for Rutgers and the Big East. Syracuse vs Purdue tomorrow will be another important Big East game.
BTW, I was reading that one out win over every four seasons over division II schools can count towards a bowl birth. Anyone know if Rutgers has any others in the last few years? If so, combined with today's win, they may actually have a shot at a bowl.

It wouldn't matter if Rutgers had a win over a D 1-AA team in the last few years, because Rutgers hasn't been to a bowl game.
As far as Syracuse vs Purdue, well Syracuse better pray for an act of god.

It's actually one win over a Division 1-AA school that offers the maximum number of scholarships (or an average pretty close to the 1AA maximum over the past three years) in four years can count towards bowl eligibility.
Rutgers will be able to count a win vs. New Hampshire towards their bowl eligibility this year; as they haven't been bowling in the last few years.

Did some players and the crowd overreact? yes.
Was this the biggest win the team has had in a long, long time? yes.
I think the revelation that the team apparently is on track to be a successfuly Division 1 school (and a froce in the Big East) is the reason for getting revved up. Frankly, we don't deal with success well as we haven't had any (ever, basically).
This is a much bigger win for Rutgers than it would have been for MSU. I'm quite confident that Rutgers will finish with a winning record now, and their odds of making a bowl just increased greatly with that win today.
And the joke is on the jerks who were in here last week talking about how MSU would wipe the field with the Scarlet Knights. This is not the Rutgers of 5 years ago. We have talent, and we have depth. We were still chugging along while Spartans were going down on nearly ever play in the 4th quarter.
A huge win for Schiano and the entire program, don't deny us our right to celebrate that.

I actually watched a bit of this game and the whole time I was excitedly cheering for Rutgers. That was partly due to the underdog fan in me but mostly due to the contingent of Scarlett Knight fans on this board. I knew this thread would be here.

This win was certainly a major step towards making it a reality. I had figured Rutgers to lose this game. So my season prediction likely shifts from "winning record, but barely missing a bowl" to "winning season and barely making a bowl."
This of course assumes they don't drop of the any "definite wins" on the schedule.

Leonard was phenomenal last year, absolutely carrying the team when all the true tailbacks where injured. It was amazing to see him start of the year the way he did (60+ yard run on the first play of the game). He's pretty damn quick for a guy of his size, catches well, and bounces off attempted tackles extremely well. A couple of preseason mags had him ranked as the #1 fullback in the country, after just his first year on the field. He's a definite NFL-caliber player.

Hehe, well for what its worth I hope Western does well this year. Same for Eastern. Except against us. It would be great to see a Michigan school at Ford Field for the title game, but I don't think this is the year.
As for Dowdell, if he is back in at QB, then I am positive that the ghost of Bobby Williams has posessed John L.
