I thought popular or sympathetic was clown. Pleasant would be semi-clown.

Yes, you are completely wrong. :)

Popular with solid leadership is a full clown; however, a popular player with passable (or even lower) leadership can act as a full clown if he has the highest leadership on the team.

Sympathetic with solid leadership is a semi-clown. He will have a positive effect on team spirit although not as much as a popular player would.

Pleasant is neutral and as no effect at all. Controversial and nasty players will negatively impact team spirit.

Regardless, the team leader has a much smaller effect on team spirit than coaches, PIC/MOTS, training intensity, and probably even lower than buying/selling players.
