Downloaded new service pack and am now experiencing incredible lag when I play online games such as EverQuest, Battlefield Vietnam or Counter Strike. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me, any ideas?
It's pissing me off ...

Don't install XP service pack 2...I've heard nothing but bad things about it.

Bah, too late. If I un-install it, will I screw up everything or should I be safe?
Damn, I knew that was a bad idea.

Maybe Microsoft has something on their site about any patches or uninstall procedures. I haven't dealt with SP2 primarily because I was warned in advance about some of the instability it causes.

Bah, no problem. Thanks for the help, guess I'll just have to see for myself. /sigh

Go in and tuen off the firewall while you play games. It's easy.

Tried that already, did nothing for me. Thanks though.

potentialdola - I wouldn't touch SP2 with Fritz's keyboard.

What's your system setup? I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;274629 for people with VIA chipsets. Did the SP install have troubles with your drivers?
I've had great luck with SP2, including no issues playing Warcraft online (the one online game I have on my PC).

I haven't had any problems, though I've heard there are issues if you install it without first cleaning the spyware off your system first...

It installed flawlessly on the laptop and one of my computers. I tried the other one and ended up rolling back and spending half of the day yesterday trying to resolve problems with the video card that was previously performing fine. I've had to turn off all hardware acceleration just to stop lockups/freezes. I regret even bothering...but it is too late now...

I'm too scared to even try. My laptop is already teetering on the edge of life as it is. I think giving it SP2 may well cause it to flatline just when I need it most.

I couldn't get my computer to load windows after trying to install this thing. Ended up just unstalling it and everything is back to normal. Wasn't SP2 supposed to be released a while ago and kept getting pushed back? MS probably felt some pressure just to release something, even though it sound like a lot of people are having problems with it.
