Sorry, but my league is inactive and my friends could care less about hattrick. I need to brag to someone :). So, with the sale of my forward I was able to finally upgrade one of my needs. I may have gone overboard, but it will be fun to have this guy in my 3-4-3 attack. For the price of 3.9 million we welcome Mariano Jaén.

Mariano Jaén
20 years, passable form, healthy
A controversial person who is tranquil and honest.
Has wretched experience and wretched leadership abilities.

Speciality: Powerful

He puts up 5 1/2 stars and was getting a world class(old) wing attack, without much help, on his old team. I still have 3 forwards who are almost ready for sale. Next up for upgrades are keeper, wingback, and a middie(in no particular order).

Sweet buy, I don't think you overpaid for him because of his good secondaries.

Congratulations! :)

Secondaries are overrated
I've seen you say that a few times, and I have to disagree, especially in the case above, because his secondary is playmaking. The help given to the midfield by a winger with good playmaking, and the stamina to take advantage of it, is underrated...

Let's say he has 3 outstanding middies, not sure what he has but let's assume that someone with over $3M to spend on a Winger has a decent set-up at the midfield. I do not see how much a passable playmaking winger will add to his midfield rating then an inadequate or weak playmaking Winger. They are both extremely minimal compared to the players he already has at midfield. At best he's gaining 1 sub-level, which to me isn't worth the $500k in overpay.

The same could be said for the inadeqaute passing. If he has two good strikers then the inadequate passing isn't really adding much.

I agree with FM. When looking through wingers I noticed that secondaries do add a decent amount to their ratings and stars. In addition, I know that passing is important to forwards. I have found a large difference in the preformance of my trainees with better passing compared to those with none. So much so that I now only buy forwards with passable and above passing.

A bonus with this player is he is young enough to take advantage of my passing training in the offseason.

he certainly is a nice player Rich, no doubt about that. But....... :)

Alot of teams that run a 3-4-3 tend to get more 'possession minded wingers" from what i've seen. When i switch to scoring training i'll probally try to pick up a nice outstanding winger with outstanding playmaking. "Maybe" that would have been a better move for you. The biggest weakness in a 3-4-3 is possession, always as been, always will be. Your wing attack would still kick ass with 3 forwards and an outstanding winger, plus i think the extra possession would help out alot.

Just a thought anyway..... still a hell-of-a winger :)

If you have 3 rockin middies(around ET or so), you wouldn't need a possesion winger, Havok.

I'm just sayin, that's around where you are training your middies to, so after you have them there, you won't need a winger with possesion so much.

Should I mention that my rating in the Navy is ET? :)

People need to stop buying players that aren't mine. For only $400,000 more you could have has a world class/inad scorer from the USA!

yeah your right.... but i still think i'll aim for a possession winger just because you can never have to much possession.

I still like his player alot... he's a badass winger. Just thought that maybe a more possesion style winger would help him more. You know me... whenever someone posts a thread like this i gotta jump in and say something! :D

Port Clinton isnt a bad place to live, but there probably isnt much to do for a tourist. I am entertained because I love jet-skis and the like. However any bad weather will suck the fun out of this place.

I actually just moved back to Toledo. Much worse, but more convenient.

I dont disagree with you, I actually was looking at a World Class PM/Excellent Winger that was going for $4.5 million. I didnt want to pay that much, plus I wanted a lot more wing attack. I dont know what an outstanding/outstanding would run since I didnt see any for sale.

Right now I have 2 outstandings(one thats 25 with high exp and puts up at least 5*s) and a formidable. I will replace the formidable with a WC after my next sale(before next season). I figure thats enough PM for the moment.

I guess it just come down to being a forward trainer. I love to put as much offense on the field as possible. Im very excited to see what attack ratings I can put up on sunday.
