Woot!
my thoughts... why do I have to watch such shitty games all the time? Houston/Detroit and Chicago/Green Bay.. come on.
It's a strange feeling.... I don't have to cover my eyes when the Lions are on defense this year.... I can live with this.... :)

Poor grounding call in the Steeler game. Maddox was outside the tackle box and tried to throw it away, when his arm was hit while throwing and therefore it didn't cross the line of scrimmage. Those 10 yards made the FG attempt much longer.
Todd
Ahman Green goes over 100 yards in the first half.... Packers losing at the moment though.
and then he fumbles and it's returned.... 14-3 Chicago

Giants leading 20-7 at the half. Surpired at that. The Giants first drive of the game was 3 and out with a Warner fumble. Washington's was a dominating drive that ended with a TD. After that it's been complete domination by the Giants. A complete 180 from the start of the game.

Im not happy watching Lions/Texans instead of the Titans game, but Roy Williams is going to be a star. He made a beautiful TD catch earlier in the game. On the other side, Andre Johnson is also looking good.
And Detroit just returned a kick 99 yards for a TD. Looks like they will start the season 2-0.

Well, there was about 1:30 left and it was 4th and 8 or so from around the 15 and down 21-10, and even though they needed two scores they went for the TD. You may as well make it a 1 posession game and go for the onside there.

The Chargers have cut it to 27-14, and now have the ball again. It's the start of the 4th quarter, and this is a huge drive for them.

Jets are in full-blown self-destruct mode. They call a reverse up 13 points in the 4th quarter (fumbling the ball, and recovering but losing a ton of yards). then a false start, then a holding penalty.
Nice work boys. samd old bullshit playcalling from Hackett.

With about 30 seconds left, Dorsey got a 40 (about) yard screen pass to Robertson to the 2-yard line. Brandon Lloyd, on the left side, apparently started blocking too early, so it was called offensive pass interference, and the play was called back. Next play, Dorsey throws his first pick of the game...game over.
The Offensive PI call was rather weak...the play didn't take that long to develop, and Lloyd waited a while before blocking. They didn't have a camera angle that showed the block and the catch in the same screen, though, so it could be legit.

If you watch the replay close enough (I dunno if you taped the game) you'll notice that Lloyd didn't block at all, he just stood there while the DB ran up to him and hit him. How they are going to call Offensive pass interference for getting in the way of a DB on a screen pass is beyond me. And yes, it was that simple. Lloyd ran up about 3-4 yards and stood in front of the CB, who then proceeded to run into Lloyd. It was a very VERY lousy call, which cost the 49ers a win. The judge that called the penalty was also BEHIND the DB when he threw the flag.

So call it offensive holding since he grabbed and held the CB's jersey and prevented him from making a play on the ball/ballcarrier. I agree that offensive pass interference was a strange way to make the call (and leads to the confusion expressed in this thread), but the result would be the same had they called the proper penalty.

I think the Packers are a team I'm going to stay away from in survivor pick 'em. They'll win more often than not this year, but when they lose is going to be hard to tell. Farve is still a great QB, but it seems like he can't do all the things he used to be able to do. It wouldn't be a problem, but it seems he doesn't believe it and still tried to do what he did when he was younger. This leads to 2 INT games like he had yesterday, and I think with the Packers defense they'll be in games where they can afford to turn the ball over.
They're just too risky a bet on any given week, either for or against them.
