Fox News (TV) is reporting that the woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape is reportedly 8 weeks pregnant by another man.
Anyone else see this? I haven't been able to verify this from any other network, but the reporter who is breaking this story is pretty respected (it's not Geraldo) so I am inclinded to believe her.
I can't imagine this would be good for her civil case. And I guess this was probably the reason why she didn't want to continue with the criminal case either.

Not sure it matters. The alleged rape was over a year ago. If she's found someone she loves in the meantime, what the hell does that have to do with the legitimacy or illegitimacy of her accusation?

Is it wrong of me to find it somewhat funny that they feel the need to specify "by another man"?
As if she and Kobe worked it out after a year and got back together.

So she only has sex when she's in love? :p

So she only has sex when she's in love? She can have sex with anyone she wants, just like everyone else.
I think the only reason this would be a story is that it could shed some light on her desire to drop the charges. We all assumed it was because a.) she couldn't win, and b.) she wanted to get to cashing in on the civil suit. Maybe there was another reason after all.

If she's found someone she loves in the meantime, what the hell does that have to do with the legitimacy or illegitimacy of her accusation?I'm skeptical of her story to begin with, and this makes me skeptical about how damaged or traumatized she was if she was raped. She had sex within days of being raped, and now she's pregnant by some guy in drug/alcohol counseling? (According to Fox).
If I was a juror I would look at this as she used bad judgment going to Kobe's room at 2am, and the sex was consentual and then she saw an opportunity. If memory serves, she had a civil attorney before she reported the rape to the police. As a juror, I would be less inclined to belive her story.

Nope, but I'd like to think that if she's having unprotected sex, it's not a casual thing. I know, I know, silly me, but allow me my delusions, okay? :p

Be honest. How many people's first reaction would be "is it his"? I would guess more than half despite the huge time inconsistencies.

Well, that's the only reason it would be considered newsworthy

Well, that's the only reason it would be considered newsworthy Certainly. It's just another case of the media drumming up a story where there isn't one. And while it's FoxNews now, I'm sure CNN and MSNBC will both have it by tomorrow :p
And even sadder is that you know there are people in this country who consider this newsworthy.

I'm sure the civil case is already settled, though not formally. Otherwise there's no way Kobe would have read that bizarre statement when the criminal case was dropped.

And even sadder is that you know there are many people in this country who consider this <s>newsworthy.</s>far more important than the Presidential election, the war on terror, and the economy.Fixed it for ya. :(

Having seen all the literature about how important it is for the mother to remain as unstressed as possible (as well as taking a boatload of vitamins) during the first trimester, I think she made a responsible decision. They were never going to get a conviction anyway, even if Kobe had raped her at gunpoint (which to clarify, no one alleges he did, we have no idea whether he was guilty or not at this point).
