And he's the first player that's good enough to play at a probowl level at reciever for the lions and safety for the cowboys at the same time!

Well, Mike Williams isn't really doing anythign this year...so its hard to compare the two. Mike would have been taken ahead of TFRW.

there was a thread either last year or the year before about it. mike would have gone before him, no doubt, but it doesn't change the fact that roy has 4 highlight reel plays now in 3 weeks, and it carrying that offense right now

well, i can't find it, but i could find this:
Dawgfan, I'd take the bottom 4 before I'd take Roy Williams
Does anyone OTHER then Imettrentgreen have anything to say?

i also found this from 2001:
Roy Williams is a GOD. Next Randy Moss.
thats not to tootle my own horn, thats to show how good he was so soon. he's always been a monster, but had to put up with shitty OL play and and dunce OC
yet another one entitled follow or die! (http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/showthread.php?t=21884&highlight=roy+williams)

Without seeing the Lions play this year at all, I will say that TFRW must have gotten a lot less soft and has decided to give up his body a bit more this year. That's good for him...he'll be making a lot of money if he keeps it up. Obviously he has done very well for himself this year so far. However, since Mike doesn't have the opportunity to make those plays this year, and next year he'll have a year of practice and maturation under his belt, it will be hard to compare over seasons. What I'm saying, I guess, is that we'll never know how Mike did compared to Roy.

Let's revisit this in a few years before we start making any final judgements.
Roy is very good obviously, but he inherited a better situation than Reggie - he was already going to be the #2 receiver as soon as he was drafted, and with Rogers out he's now the obvious go-to guy and is being featured. Plus, the Lions pass offense is in better shape than the Jags with Harrington starting to show signs of getting it.
Reggie on the other hand came to a team with 2 established WR already, and with a young QB that is having a hard time adjusting to being under center most of the time instead of the shotgun.

If the Lions had Rogers healthy this year, we would have a shot at a playoff spot. As it is, it has been a treat watching Williams mature in just a couple games. I've heard this criticism of him being soft, but have not seen anything to indicate that thus far. Just look at the second TD he scored today.

That guys an animal.
If the Lions had a running game they could compete for a wild card.

You know so little about football it hurts. Physically hurts.
Roy Williams can't help it if the routes he's told to run suck and the QB is getting pressured 1/2 a second after the snap.
There are only 2 possible explanations for your posts:
a.) Ignorance.
b.) Flamebaiting and trolling.

anyway, roy isn't in any better situation. he plays on a team with little talent other than the reciever with a broke collar bone sitting on the bench. he is carrying them. harrington had 190+ passing yards, and 135 or so were to roy. for some reason the austin market has gotten every single lions game so far, so i've seen it. he's playing at a pro bowl level right now. i really doubt any other rookie reciever, including mike williams, is ready to carry an entire offense

Some reason? I reckon that reason is pretty clear...
Roy Williams
Shaun Rogers
Cory Redding
Rod Babers
Between Roy and Shaun Rogers, the Lions probably have two of the brightest, young pro prospects out of UT.

All I have gotten to see so far this season is highlights. Every one of those seemed to be #11 grabbing a ball that was thrown behind him and making one hell of a catch. Is Joey still missing most throws and RW is just that good? I'm still not convinced that Harrington is the guy for the Lions. But I do know that if he leaves he'll get it together and be a monster QB.

Bryant quickly turned to rookie linebacker Teddy Lehman, whose Oklahoma teams always beat Williams and Texas.
Bryant: "Teddy, how did you stop him in college?"
Lehman: "The only way we could stop him was kill the quarterback."
Ha. How timely.

i don't know about joey, he murdered us in the holiday bowl, but roy is that good. he has massive hands and more athletic ability and balance than a 6'2 human should have. two years ago, at north carolina, he caught a ball behind his head. the throw went out of bounds, so he looked down to make sure he didn't run into anything, but he caught the ball anyway, without looking, at the back of his neck
he is the best offensive player i've ever seen, better than ricky was, and i will not back down from this

How can you lose comparing an actual NFL player to a dress wearing, pot smoking, retired world traveler.
