Would you decline this? Meaning disallow it.

Pennington and Owens

for

Garcia
Thomas Jones
D. Mason

If you are the one who has Pennington and Owens, I would not accept that trade.

I meant not allow it to go through between two other teams.

that seems like a joke- unless your league has a strange point system that doesnt reward very good performance highly.

pretty standard league.

Looks fine to me. That will end up a lot more even then you might think. Especially when Thomas Jones finishes the year rated in the top 10 for RB's.

gottimd

Yeah, I would need to see the scoring system. Also, the teams in question, their rosters, if the trade satisfys the needs of both teams, then possibly yes, but just looking at that trade, I would say no.

Jones as a top 10 RB? Not unless a few others get injured, that way his stats in comparison would match those of the upper tier RB's that missed some games. Jones is a Mediocre RB. Pennington and Owens will get a lot of points.

I'm having a hard time coming to a definative conclusion. I guess that would mean allow it.

Points are basic 6 pt TD (4 for QB), 1 for 25 yards QB, 1 for 10 RB/RC.

Double TD points if RB catches TD or QB or WR runs in a TD is the only non-standard thing.

I will try and remember to bump this when the season is over and Jones is in the top 10. This is not last season.

Trade is 100% fine. The guy will gain more points from starting Jones over George then he will lose going down to Mason and Delhomme.

Danny
09-29-2004, 01:35 PM
Dola, the trade is a sweet deal for team #2, but he should not be penalized for making a smart trade.

Yeah but Pennington and Owens will surely outscore Delhomme and Mason by more than Jones outscores George wouldn't they?

I dont think so. George is terrible. Jones will likely outscore George by say 10 points a game. Owens will be good for 15 a game and Mason 10. Pennington should outscore Delhomme by a few a game, around 3 would be my guess.

yes, especially when Jones runs into the better Run Defenses in the league down the line. He has gotten off to a good start, but he won't finish with the best of them.

Danny

Jones wont keep his current ranking of having scored the most fantasy points for any running back, but he is going to have a very good season statistically.

I think the trade is fair. I wouldnt question that trade in my league.

What if I told you that the guy giving up Owens backed out of

Owens and George

for

D.Foster, S.Davis and Stallworth

at the last second after it was all but agreed upon.

And the two people ultimately making the deal in question are brothers.

Is there any history or reason to believe there is collusion going on?

How will Grossman's injury affect Jones' production?

None other than it's a nine year old league where Team B joined 2 years ago. Team A, his brother, is new this season. Both teams are currently 1-2 and in the same division of a 12 team/2 division league.

How will Grossman's injury affect Jones' production?

Negatively I would guess.

Danny

I guess it depends on good you think Grossman was. I dont think he was very good, so I dont see a whole lot of difference.

Yeah, he is the #1 RB right now, no?

Danny

He's really #2 since Martin has scored less points due to the bye week, but has a greater average.

They are going from "below average" to "below Kyle Boller"

None other than it's a nine year old league...

Ahhh... a league full of nine year olds. That makes much more sense of this now.

Seriously -- I think there would have to be a much more imbalanced deal than this for a commish to step in. RBs are always a hot commodity at this point when knuckleheads realize they don't have them -- dealing away very solid players at other positions is not unusual. I like the deal a lot for the guy trading away Jones, but I definitely wouldn't step in on it.

Maple Leafs

Nothing at all wrong with the deal... one team is desperately short of decent RBs, recognizes the problem, and is (slightly) over-paying to address it. Nothing to see here. Move on.

jamesUMD
09-29-2004, 04:45 PM
if I read right you said that they are brothers, I can't see 1 brother tanking this early for the other. Everybody values players differently, and Jones honestly looks like a different RB so I wouldn't stop the deal. In my league there have been plenty of deals that look lopsided when they are done but have ended up lopsided in the opposite direction when looked at following the end of the season.

Far enough over to see that Jones isn't one of the elite RB's in the league.

I game remaining...all hinges on this weeks action.
