Instead of spending 30 minutes looking through threads, I figured I would just post this question and have a couple of you answer quick.
Why is Minnesota playing the New York in the playoffs? Why doesn't NY play the team with the worst winning percentage (ANA)? Minnesota should have the home field against Boston.
I am of course missing something here...but I don't know what it is.
Thanks

Minnesota and Anaheim actually had the same record (92-70). Anaheim wins the tiebreaker via head to head, I presume.

They were tied, and Anaheim had a better record against the Twins, making them the 2 seed.

According to this, Minnesota played 1 more game. I realize that the winning percentages reflect this. So, it must be a typo

don't know where you got those standings from, but they are wrong. The Twins were in fact 92-70 per mlb.com

espn.com. And yes, I did check mlb after. I would have said 'oh yeah' if I would have seen that first.
those standings probably got goofed from Saturday's semi-game, which they probably counted twice, as they have the Indians playing one extra game also

Actually...Boston and New York cant play each other in the forst round cause they are in the same Division.

He's not saying that, he's saying that Minnesota should be playing Boston(based on the standings he saw first).

A stupid rule in my opinion. I think if you're going to have a rule like that, you might as well rank the 1-4 seeds strictly by record as well.
