05-10-2004 Economy adjustments for next season
Next season, the income per sold ticket increases approximately 10%. Sponsor income also goes up 10% and the prize money (after the season) for achivement in the league is doubled. These improvements are made to ensure that the global Hattrick economy remains healthy (not over-heated and not in recession). A document is now available describing the upcoming season's economy adjustments.
General comments
The HT-Team always monitors the global Hattrick economy to make sure that it is healthy. Based on the data available, we adjust the economy in the season break. Please note that we mainly look at the underlying economy, not so much the fluctuations on the transfer market. We would prefer a transfer market that did not fluctuate too much. However, a lot of factors determine how the market behaves and we cannot fully control the transfer market, so there will always be fluctuations on the market.
Instead, we concentrate on the two most important factors for ensuring that the transfer market is as stable as possible: A healthy global economy (the amount of money available in the game), and a set of rules for the transfer market that does not change too dramatically. Last season we made some major changes to the transfer rules, and those rules will, on the whole, remain for many season to come.
The global economy however, needs some fine tuning each season. It must not be over-heated and it must not be starving.
Measures for season 24
The global economy of Hattrick has been rather stable this past season. The average team now has 253 000 € in the treasury, which is only marginally less than one season ago when it was 259 000 €. The big drop happened in last season's break (when it dropped to 229 000 € ), while the economy has spent this past season slowly, slowly recovering.
However, next season teams will generally have higher salaries (as they always do, mostly because the average team gets slightly better, and therefore gets higher player salary costs). The salary formulas have also changed (as we explained in the HT 6.6 release). Then there will be a change to the cup system which has economic effects.
Having evaluated the current situation and all changes, we have come to the conclusion that in order to continue to have a stable economy in the game, we need to increase the income side somewhat for the upcoming season.
The general economic adjustments to take effect in the upcoming season are as follows.
* Spectator income per sold ticket will increase:
o Terrace places from 5.0 € to 5.5 €
o Regular seats from 7.5 € to 8.0 €
o Seats under a roof from 10 € to 11 €
o Seats in VIP lounge from 25 € to 27.50 €
This will give an overall increase of ticket income of slightly less than 10%.
* Sponsor income will be 10% higher.
* The prize money for series positions (but not the promotion bonus) will be doubled from their current values. The cup prize money will also be doubled and start being given out two rounds earlier than before. This will, of course, not have any practical effect until towards the end of season 24. The cup prize money will be as follows::
o Cup winner: 800 000 €
o Losing finalist: 400 000 €
o Losing semifinalists: 200 000 €
o Losing quarter finalists: 100 000 €
o Losing eighthfinalists: 50 000 €
Along with these changes, we would like to give you advanced warning about a change that will not occur until the season after the upcoming one:
From season 25 (which starts late January 2005), the costs for expanding your arena will be doubled compared to today. In the season after that, it will increase even more. The reason for this change is that these prices have fallen behind while all other costs have gone up since season 1 when these prices were set.

I predict massive stadium upgrades about week 15 of season 24 :)

I think all of the changes are positive.

That will be huge, there will be a ton of people saving up this season for a big stadium expansion at the end of the year (as I will be) to get it in before the increases. I expect another season of deflated TL prices as people save for this.

Yep.
I was already figuring out whether or not it would be a good idea to expand my stadium this upcoming year...now I see there's no question that I should.

wasn't going to expand for another season unless they changed the support moods back. Now it looks like it will be a must next year.

i just started a 10k seat upgrade 2 days ago. i wish i had went ahead and bumped it up a little more. i guess ill just have to save up for the end of the season like everyone else and do a huge upgrade then.
also, i wonder what effect this will have on offseason sales. i would assume that most people will blow their extra cash on their stadium in the offseason. since the market is so slow in the offseason already, there will probably be some awesome deals. most people will be more likely to sell for cash to put into their stadium and hardly anyone wanting to purchase since they already blew their cash on their stadium. you might want to consider that and save some extra money for some great deals. :)
Already thought of it. :) Of course, I probably won't have any money then anyway. :(

I was just going to post what I should do with my team next, since I promoted to a difficult series. Seeing the price of a stadium go up, I think I'll upgrade to at least a "good run" with my current number of supporters.
Not bad changes. About the stadium size i just upgraded it to 40k this season and at the end had one sold out week, so this year i'll try to make it at least 70k.

Don't like them. The increase crowd income is just going to exaggerate the differences in crowd income between teams at the top of the series and teams at the bottom (or those that chose to promote and those that don't). They needed to tweak the supporter mood input in the crowd formula.

so instead of fixing the retarded crowd formula, they just increase ticket prices.

The prize money for series positions (but not the promotion bonus) will be doubled from their current values. Even more of a reason for people to throw qualifiers.

No mention of raising the maintenance cost per seat?
BTW, I agree with Havok. They should have fixed the formula.

I guess I'll probably go up to about 75K at the end of the season, and just stay there forever. The 400K or so that will cost shouldn't be much trouble to come up with since I will actual attract more then 30K fans this season.

In light of this new information, I probably won't sell a trainee right now, but instead train him up another level to take advantage of all that cup money that people will be spending around week 6 . . .

This is really going to hose the new players. You have to bulk up to 15K+ in the first couple of seasons and this is going to make that impossible. Perhaps they should have instead implemented a system where it costs exponentially more the larger your stadium is (i.e. Going from 10K to 20K costs $300K but going from 70K to 80K costs $3M). This would be more realistic and more inline with not killing newbies but taking cash out of the system.
It's going to be hard to find construction teamsters in week 15 of next season.

True. This just preserves the elite status of the teams that have been playing for a long time. Those who are sitting on a 100k stadium never have to upgrade, so it doesn't affect them at all. Yet, the noobs get penalized for starting the game years after the rest of us. Not too fair.
I was going to wait to do my final stadium upgrade, but it looks like the time has come to go ahead and jump into that 90,000 spectator stadium.

Depending on the types of crowds I can get this season, there may be a new 75K Hippodrome in 14 weeks.

That's probably what I'll do too, even though my nice 60k only saw an average of 36156 fans per home game this past season... Gotta say that having three home games rained out sorta hurt the crowd numbers...

I'm looking to upgrade to 92,000 which will cost me 500,800 to upgrade from my current 67,550.
