View Full Version : The WORST Movie Ever (Birth)

So I was at the movies with this girl and everything good to see was basically sold out. So we went down the street to the smaller theater and all that was playing (that neither of us had seen) was Birth with Nicole Kidman.
Now, if you want a movie that rates highly on the unintentionally funny scale, see it. Something about her bathing with a 10 year old who isn't her son is quite humerous. The ending isn't much of a twist. The girl who plays a HUGE role in the ending is actually in the movie for like 2 minutes up until the end you're basically only confused as to what shes even doing in the movie.
And Nicole Kidman looked like an American Gladiator.
It was WORSE then Thirteen in my opinion.

I saw Birth on Firday and was really looking forward to it, Ebert (whom i usualy trust and agree with) made it sound like a real interesting character study. But ho damn is Detox right, the starting premise is good, and it's a little eerie for a little while, but even in the best parts of the movie atmospheric wise the dialog and scenes are soooooooooo drawn out that I started to lose interest.
The big reveal is a cop out and pretty much ruins anything good that was accomplished in the previous 80 minutes.
One thing I couldn't come to grips with is how everyone is played so Victorian like, the characters seemed to be out of a Jane Austin movie but stuck in Manhattan.
And the bathtub scene, aye aye aye..........just, not good.

Am I the only one who kind of likes seeing Bio-Dome on Saturday afternoon cable every now and then?

i really enjoyed this movie.
i found it very european. it even felt like it had 7 acts instead of 3. and for what its worth, nicole wore a bathing suit in the bathtub (in real life, of course).
it was a bit disturbing, but it stayed with me, and made me think. i also like how open ended the film was.

Bummer for the kid taking the bath with her.
