With all the open jobs in college football, are you afraid of losing Mike Price to other positions (IE. U of Washington). Also, how would you grade his coaching performance this year. Just wanting to get another opinion besides my own.

P.S. We'll let you keep him, if the UW can get Jeff Tedford!

Not that this is a national source or anything, but on one of the KC stations in one of those "someone knows someone in the program" type conversations, they mentioned that while it seemed odd, Price is considering UTEP as one of those "settle down and coach for life" jobs. Take that with a grain of salt, of course.

I wonder how Mike Price would like it in Minnesota... :)

Well, if Price could recruit when he was in Pullman, I'm sure he can recruit in El Paso. The rumours up here have him as an outside possibility. But, as long as he isn't in the Pac-10, I'm fine. The dude can coach and recruit.

I think Minnesota and Purdue could have new coaches next year.

Minnesota's demise was somewhat expected post Michigan loss. It always happens. I am glad it happened though just because of what Mason said post game. Instead of taking any blame for the loss, he reflected it all to having five wins, saying basically the game wasn't that big of a deal. That's bogus.

As far as Purdue. Orton was never that good. He played good but I wasn't sold on him. Injured now, or not, they should just ride Kirsch out and see what happens next year. Tiller really choked this year though.

Sometimes the best surprises can be found in the most unlikely places. "I'm just happy," Price says. "My wife's happy; the kids are happy."

Price's sons, Eric and Aaron, are on the coaching staff, just as they were at Alabama, and the family has Sunday barbecues at Price's house near a picturesque country club. "I could wrap it up here. I like it," Price says. "The people, they appreciate me as much as I appreciate them, and the weather is great. Every day I wake up, it's sunny."

Earlier in the year, I was really worried about Price leaving. We Miner fans just went through a similair situation with our basketball coach (He Who Shall Not Be Named), and it left a very bad taste in our mouth. But every day I see a new article about Price and the Miners, and every time he talks about how much he's loving El Paso. MP is in a much different situation than HWSNBN. HWSNBN is young and looking to make a name for himself. MP is older, already established. UTEP gave him a shot when no one would even talk to him (I'm sure the folks at Arizona are kicking themselves right now), and he's not going to forget that fact. He may stay here for the rest of his career, and that would be fantastic. He may decide to move on a few years down the road. I don't think he's going to leave after this year or next year, though...

So to answer your question, Dawgfan, nah, I'm not too worried right now. :)

(Oh, and MP has already emphatically stated that there's NO chance of him going to UW...)

If he decides to stay there, kudos to UTEP. He really got hosed at 'bama and even at Arizona. If he stays there and settles down and makes them a good midgrade power (it's tough to be a football superpower unless you're university sized) and they take care of him financially, it'll be a good end for both.
