I wish you guys hadn't brought this up.. Ever since I retired, I have been training.. Long months clenching and releasing my fists, studying the top players and their tendencies.. And then this summer, which was to be my mercurial rise up the ladder, I tear a ligament in the thumb on my right hand.. I tried to fight through it, but the pain was unbearable.. I was at regionals, using only rock and scissors.. I was doing well despite my handicap, but then there was this phenom 5 year old kid..

He came at me with the dreaded scissor to rock to scissor to paper combo in the first match, and I easily bested him with the rock, rock, rock, scissor defense... But in the break between, he seemed to go into a shell.. He curled up in the fetal position and started mumbling some words in what I can only explain as a mix between Canadian French and Japanese..

What happened next blew me away.. In our second round, as the resin flew from the collisions of our hands, he came straight at me with 2 consecutive paper calls.. It was like somehow he knew I was going to go rock, rock.. And he gave me this look as we were deciding the last point of the round..

His eyes said simply this: I pwned you.

We counted down, 3... 2... 1... GO!!!

... He held out a defiant rock. I was left crestfallen, holding a pair of scissors. Needless to say, that was the turning point of the match. He finished me easily, 3-0 in the third match and I went home humbled and depressed, a picture of lost composure and utter disbelief.

And this thread only serves as a recurring nightmare of those events.
