The logos should already be loaded in your game.

You can pretty much find everything here. Ie Skins, logos, pictures.

Hope that helps.

We don't have the licence for the Premier League (EA have it tied up - just for a change ;) ) .... as other people have mentioned there are however some good unofficial sites carrying a variety of add-ons for the game ...

To add on this, I downloaded an England complete logopack from them, with logos all the way down to conferences and below, and competitions logos.

I agree, sortitoutsi.net is great, but I was very impressed with the one presented by Miller Time, the fmbase.co.uk one. I didn't know that one and it is pretty impressive...

I meant the whole site. I'll be checking it out regularly for additions... The EPL, I couldn't care less, I got the whole logo set when I dowloaded the entire England pack from sortitoutsi...

The site does look good. I'm sure I'll be hunting down things when my copy gets there.

Question: I'm a big time n00b to CM/FM - what would be a good league/teams to start with?

Thanks,

Todd

Eaglefan recommended HULL

Hull was my very first team in CM 03/04. Back then, they were in a lower league. Now, they are in League 1 (division 2) but I still think they would be a decent team to start with. They have a very rich owner and good finances. They have Stuart Elliott who was a very versatile and skilled player for me. I mostly used him at Striker where he wasa deadly. However, he is a very good left winger as well. They have a nice amount of talent on that team. Anyway, I think they are probably still a good pick for a newbie.

As EaglesFan27 has pointed out in his dynasty, Hull in League One is a fairly good team. He played with them as his first team and he promoted from League Two, I think. What I can say is that they won the league title in League One in 2004-05, so they must have a strong team, at least something with which you can play and have fun :)

Is it not wise to start with a god awful team?

I always like England- the premiership, with a decent/good team is worth starting with. Not neccessarily a Manchester United or Arsenal, but a Liverpool or Liverpool is a fairly rich team with good talent, but you can always improve em. I think England is the way to go in the beginning at least- later, you can discover taking crappier Prem sides (Man City is leading the premiership thanks to yours truly- woo hoo!) or lower league teams, and then possibly internation football.

Playing with a great team, likely you would get bored fast. You could stick the current Arsenal or Chelsea squad into the basic 4-4-2 and do nothing else and you'd still win nearly all your games. Although some people enjoy the player acquisition part so that makes it fun for them.

Personally I like starting out at the lowest level and promoting up, but if you are playing the game for the first time all it would likely produce is frustration since it's harder to see why things are happening the way they are when all your players are crap. :) My recommendation would be to pick a decent squad with some transfer money and a good sized stadium for your first game. That gives you all the options to play around with. Once you get a feel for the game you can decide where to go next.

I've always ejnoyed starting with the worst team that I can find in the country I want to play. I think it gives you a much greater appreciation for the upper leagues when you've had to climb your way up. I don't think I've ever started from anywhere except the bottom.

If you get relegated out of a job in your first couple of careers, it's no biggie.

Thanks for all the responses. I know with games like ootp, tpb, and fof, I always start on the hardest level, and usually worst team.. but with FM I'm thinking somewhere in the middle would be best until I get the hang of it.

That was also my thinking when I picked Luton Town. I felt it was a reasonable challenge, while not completely crazy, like taking a semi-pro side in the lowest of conference levels...

For some reason, I was kind of scared of playing with one of the bigger teams, since I knew I would want to play with tactics and that would unvariably mean many losses before getting some wins and I would think that the pressure to perform at a higher level would have been a bit much for little newb me to handle :)

well i am not sure on this version but in past versions if you took a team like manutd and didn't achieve in your first year you were very likely to get the sack.

course i have been playing Rushden in league 2-not a bad team to try imho
i been tweaking a 4-2-1-2-1 tactic currently sitting in 6th only transfer was some goalie that came from conferance n/s leagues on a free(hope he never sees any action he looks terrible)

barrow may be a team to try they seem to always do well in their league

I agree, but I think if you're unfamilar with the game, a bigger club is a nice one to start out with- you have more room for error and more to fool around with.

You might start out with a mid-table Premiership side (preferably with a patient chairman). That way, you would be able to sign just about anyone (because of the prestige of the league) without the pressure to get results right away. Maybe try Aston Villa or Middlesbrough - I think both of these teams are also in pretty good financial shape (meaning you might actually get some transfer money to play with).

I think it's difficult to start out with a lower league team. Until you understand what players will realistically play for you, it can be frustrating signing players up for your team. I started out playing CM on CM3 with Chesterfield as my first team. I had the worst time trying to understand how things worked. I was just determined to plow ahead and figure out how to play the game though. I'm glad I stuck with it :D

Boro or Tottenham is a good choice when you're learning the game - scooter made the point better than I did. Its inane figuring out how things work the first time, and how to scout players, what formations to best take advantage of them, especially if you have no clue where to start. I remember that I started my first game with Leichester City and got them relegated- at which point I quit. Then I tried with Betis- and got fired, simply because the stock 4-4-2 with on input and just auto picking the players with the highest values was getting me nowhere (this was CM3). Give yourself an easier team that can serve as a learning curve.

Else if you want to try a club outside of England, Rennes in France would be a good choice.

They have some good players (Kallstrom aka CM3 legend, Frei, Isaksson, Monterrubio) some excellent youngsters (Faty, Didot, Briand) some money (owner is one of the richiest men in France) and they're just looking for a mid table position.

Plus you wouldn't have the problem of dealing with work permits.

That's why I always seem to find a league outside of England to play now. I haven't tried France yet. I've tried Germany (Werder Bremen - before they won the BL), Belgium (Genk) and now Holland (Heerenveen). I don't like to be hindered by work permits.

Belgium and Holland could be considered as well since there are no restrictions for foreigners and could allow you to find some good players without having to worry if you can play them or not.

While that might have been true in 03/04, the morale problems you get now with taking over a big club plus the fact that you might be sacked halfway through the season make it more of a risk.

meh- take a patient chairman club. A Boro fits the bill. Now Athletico Madrid- that's a club to avoid at all costs... :D
