How many of you plan to boycott Madden because of the exclusive rights deal?

I don't. But that's only because I'm weak-willed and without principle when it comes to my need for console NFL. :)

I'm not boycotting because of the exclusive rights deal. I'm boycotting because the game is exactly the same every year.

How many of you plan to boycott Madden because of the exclusive rights deal?

Also, how many threads do we need to boycott Madden?

I dunno. I'll start another poll for that one.

If the game is good and I think I'll play it, then I'll buy it. If not ,then I won't. They still have to put out the best game to get my business, and even then, have it be a game I think I'd play enough to buy. with the release of GTA: San Andreas this year I didn't buy any football games b/c San Andreas will eat up all my console time til I beat it.

I def. buy it. I need my NFL fix. What do I give a crap about sega anyway? I am not a console owner nor do I have any plans of buying one anytime soon.

No boycott, but I don't plan on buying Madden as long as NCAA is available. I bought the 2004 version of both and played the hell out of NCAA, while Madden collected dust. I learned my lesson and didn't even bother looking at Madden 2005.

I did the same with NCAA 2004. I'm beginning to believe that the recruiting dynamic works a lot better than using the draft and free agency. I get frustrated by the cpu teams in Madden not performing their player management tasks well enough and then I end up taking control of all 32 teams. In NCAA, I think recruiting works well enough to not have to worry about helping other teams in the interest of fairness.

No boycott since I buy the PC version and EA has pretty much had exclusivity since NFL Fever 2000 (or was it 2001) was released.

Not getting it, but no so much because of this deal as the fact I just don't think it's a very fun game.

It all depends on what Sega does this year really. Otherwise maybe I'll go back to playing NCAA, skipped this year, but had a blast with '04.

I probably won't buy it next year. I have this year's version for the PC and I doubt they'll add anything new. Maybe the year after.

I have been one of those people who has bought Madden every year on the day it came out. This upcoming year, I'll at least wait to hear impressions before I buy it. For the first time, I might not buy it, Iif reviews suggest it is very similar to the most recent version (which is likely) I will not buy it.

the license doesn't concern me, as long they put out quality products they will have me and many others as customers.

I'm out on principle. I simply don't like monopolies (unless I'm the one who has got one). This deal is greedy of the NFL, and the customer will suffer. I'm very interested to see how this turns out five years down the line.

I hope Sega does an NCAA game.

The NFL is a business. It's not greedy, its business. Granted, we may not like how the NFL does it, but they are a business.

Does Tiger Woods or LeBron James signing an exclusive deal with Nike make us stop buying Nike stuff? No.

It's a really asshole question but I gotta ask: It's not like Madden has improved that much from one year to the next each of the past few years so what's different about next year?

What can I say, I've been a sucker for many years for this particular game. Every year, I say I'm not going to buy this year's version. Then, about a month or two before it is released, I start reading previews and get all worked up about the game. With this monopoly, I think I may finally have the strength to stick to my resolution to not buy the game unless something significant is added to it that is a must have feature (which is extremely unlikely.)

Franchise has gotten way better. Not anything like FOF but one can hope. Anyway, thats my answer.

I do agree that this past year's franchise mode was the most improved feature of the game for me. It was still far from perfect, but much improved from the past. Furthermore, it was clearly the best console franchise mode IMHO.

Interesting rumors on Gamespot today regarding this. Reportedly, EA is considering dumping Madden to cut costs and raise profits. Also, there is speculation that they will raise the price to 59.99. I'm all in favor of dropping Madden, but obviously against the price raise.

I'm for it if it hurt sales. Anything to make this the last exclusive game contract.

I can't wait to see what SEGA will do now that they have been relegated. I can't wait to see their fictional football league if they take the relegation well. At least they have 5 years to get their act together and bounce back from relegation.
