I was searching to see if another movie was on the horizon and only now discovered that there's a series currently on TV. I don't watch much TV so have never seen an advert for it. It's on UPN which is only carried by CityTV north of the border so there's little wonder that I've missed it. Why isn't it carried by the major networks?

Anyway, it seems to be a prequel of the original series. Scott Bakula is the captain, the boyhood idol of Kirk.

Is the series any good? Season 1 is coming out on DVD in March with the other three out by Christmas of 2005.

I can't speak for most of the series, although I have caught an episode prior to this season on occasion. I didn't take to it at first, because I kinda felt Scott Bakula was a lowgrade star for this sort of thing, and it was a look in the past, rather than the future (as the others have been).

I caught a few at the end of last season, though, and they intrigued me enough to catch it this season. And thus far, I have had a lot of fun checking it out. They have a strange love of TBCs and three-parters this year, but if you can deal with it, I think you'll enjoy the stories they put up. I'm still getting to used to many of the characters myself, but Bakula, as it turns out, seems well suited to his role.

Oh yeah, and Jolene Blalock is hot, and nothing wrong with some eyecandy. :)

I thought the show started off well enough but as ratings fell they turned it into more of an action series. I still watch but find myself losing interest whenever Ms. Blalock is not on screen.

Oh...and it is only on UPN because Paramount owns the Star Trek franchise.

I like it.

Jolene Blalock is hot in an anorexic-plastic-cologen(sp)-sort-of-way.

I liked Bakula's puppy. Is he a big dog now?

Damn, I haven't watched it in months. I'll Tivo (Season Pass) it now that I've been reminded.

My bro watches the show and says this season is MUCH better than the last few seasons.

I've watched it since the beginning (and no, I'm not even a trekkie :) ). It's a solid, yet unspectacular, series. I enjoy it, but I agree with those who have said this season's serial episodes are annoying. Last season was one big serial, and I'm not really into that too much. I think if they continue to do that type of thing, I'll probably quit watching.

Watched the first season religiously and somehow lost interest (even with blalock). Will probably pick up the DVDs. When it was first announced and I saw Bakula as the star I was very wary (only think of him as Sam Becket) but he was able to change my opinion of him (much as Michael Chiklis did on The Shield).

The only series I track now are Stargate SG1 (even though I think they should have closed the show out years ago) and I will start watching the new Battlestar Galactica. I really enjoyed the mini-series this past year.

I've watched it throughout, and I find this season to be the best by FAR. I'm really enjoying this season so far.

First couple of seasons were just bland (both aesthetically and story-wise...except for Ms. Blalock of course). Maybe I should start watching again.

Bah. I've caught a few episodes, but the whole concept turns me off. There's no continuity anymore... the series just doesn't "fit" with the other series/movies. They shouldn't have gone with the prequel thing.

Or they should have gone extreme prequel...like the development of warp drives and first contact with alien folk.

How can there be a prequel to Kirk yet they have far more technology.

Enterprise is a good show. The first two seasons were somewhat bland, however the sam could be said for TNG and DS9 in their first two seasons. The third season of Enterprise was simply outstanding. It reminded me quite allot of the Dominion War (season six and seven) of DS9, which is still my favorite Trek series of all time. This season has also been quite enjoyable to watch. I especially like the "to be continued" three part stories as they lend to a much broader and comprehensive storyline. I hope they continue this trend for the rest of the life of this series.

Now just so you don't think that I am "brown-nosing" the Trek executives, I was one of those fans that thought that Enterprise would not last beyond three seasons, after watching the first season!

Now just to show you how this series is catching on, well my wife who has seen only three of the movies (Wrath of Kahn, Search for Spock & First Contact) and never watches the shows with me, has joined me in watching Enterprise on a weekly basis! She got hooked by the first episode this season (the continuation from last year), and hasn't stopped watching!

I never really caught on with TNG at all. But DS9 I enjoyed quite a bit. I watched Enterprise at the beginning because I was curious and liked the idea but quickly bored of it since it's clear they're written by the same crap that brought us Voyager. A friend of mine was watching it and so I caught on for the second half of last season. The problem I had with the whole war-Xindi-arc-whatever last season is that it basically *was* the Dominion War from DS9. It lacked a lot of creativity- you could tell they were scratching for ideas, digging through the old series and saying something like "hm... what worked for the other series? ah, this! let's copy it."

See- I actually like the format they're doing this year even if the stories are somewhat underwhelming (I mean, geez- Bret Spiner was great but it becomes painfully evident how mediocre the writers can be when they write genetically engineered super humans as whiny adolescents). People always complain about serialized series (you have a vcr, right?) so this strikes a middle ground: you can tell stories that take more than an hour but since they're separate 3 hour stories, it's not as if you miss the season if you miss an episode- you just miss one three parter and can pick up with the next.

agree with you totally FN. Berman is just...taking a dump on the continutity and history of the ST universe, and that has to me (almost from day 1) made the show unwatchable. Watched the first season out of loyalty...a few episodes into the second season, saw it getting worse and not better, and dropped it.

The whole..."temporal cold-war" thing did absolutely NOTHING for me, ditto with the Xindi-arc. Just...so much crap slung against a wall to see what will stick.

You'll be happy to know that they killed (I mean ended) the temporal cold war storyline forever in the first episode of this season. The Xindi thing (I missed all of last season) still pops up from time to time, but now they're focusing on actual Star Trek stuff like the genetically enhanced Khan people and the Vulcans and Romulans. I, too, watched the first season, lost interest a couple of episodes into the second season, and didn't watch the third season at all, but I've found this season to be pretty interesting and worth watching.
